blootstelling >> exposure...

Talking about Exposure Suits: Are the Americans so into exposing themselves that they need a special suit? :28:

does this thread win the monthly prize for "biggest divergence from original topic in fewest posts?"

Do the dutch have people getting naked and noisy around explosives often enough that they had to make a word for it? :D

Maybe this vacation is going to be even MORE interesting than I thought.

Skinny dippin on new yearseve is a very old Dutch tradition.(but you'll miss it):rofl3:
Somehow this thread is going in a very strange direction.:D

I agree...just thought it was cute, and well it kinda pertains to the original subject of "mis-understandings".... we all have them. Actually Dutch is going to be my next language to learn. I actually find it VERY "het intrige"! I will stop now....this thread has gone awry...

We've dove twice now with Bonaire Dive and Adventure, and they have never had a problem with us using our Zeagle pony bottles...we find it best just to use a transfill between one extra tank we keep in the truck and bleed it slowly as we dive through the day.

Love Bonaire...will be back 5/24/08 for our 3rd trip in 3 years!

Please allow me to clarify as the owner of Wannadive. I must admit that the e-mail response of Nicole wasn't the right one. She is a trainee from the hotel school, and during Mika's vacation she answers most of the mail, admittingly not always as correct as we'd like to see. The simple answer to John's question is this: No we don't have pony bottles for rent. In fact; most dive shops on Bonaire don't. Two of the more important reasons are 1/ There is very little demand for them, causing them to rot in a corner somewhere, unused, which is what happened with the two we used to have. 2/ On bonaire it is general policy to encourage divers to take as little gear as possible with them that could dangle and hurt the reef. Not that this is discussed much; it is considered a given. We do however fully allow people to dive with whatever gear they feel comfortable with, especially safety gear. We gladly fill pony bottles should you have one and bring it along, no matter if you wish to have that filled with air or nitrox. Immediately, on the spot, and as many times as you wish, although we'd poke fun at you if you need many Pony bottle refills: Do you need a pony bottle for safety, or are you a gas guzzler :-). In a more general sense John is wrong to say you can dive with anything you wish. The limit is whatever the law says, as well as the rules of the Bonaire marine park. For example if anyone insists on diving with gloves: find another destination. Like a harpoon? Stay away!. Lastly I regret john felt it necessary to post and doubt our professionalism, based on one misunderstanding. -Nail 'em to the wall y'all-. Literally thousands of posts on forums, magazines, and newspapers, on four continents tell a different story.

Hi Bart, nice to see you back. For those of us who know you and the Wannadive staff it was very clear the member of your staff was mistaken or more likely just having an issue with translation. Wannadive has a lot of friends on this board.

Now would your really poke fun at pony refills......never mind, I am positive you would.... :)

I found the people at Wannadive to be very unprofessional and disorganized. I spent four weeks planning 6 cruise dives in Dominica, Grenada, and Bonaire. At the first two islandss, they picked me up at the ship, took me on some great dives, and dropped me back at the ship. However, when I arrived at the Wannadive on Eden Beach by cab (they refused to pick me up) I was informed that there really was no 2PM boat dive, regardless of what I was promised by email. They made no effort to help me with transportation, arrange shore dives, or find another dive shop for me. Luckily I was able to make some last minute arrangements with Yellow Submarine for some guided shore dives that saved my day. They were great! I suggest that anybody who is considering Wannadive should find another dive operator that actually cares. This one doesn't.

There are 2 sides to every story and I would like to hear the other side.
Liz - would you please ask Wannadive to respond to the above post, just in case they don't see it).
