We had a presentation at a dive club meeting a few years back about those structures. Can't seem to remember the details, but it is a government project, placing these structures as some sort of artificial reef. Can't remember if the goal was to increase fish counts or to spawn coral growth. Something like that. And, these are placed up and down the coast.

A little googling and I found this. I'd never heard of it before. It might be a good post-BHB dive or snorkel spot.

I would love to check them out when I get down (in august)

especially since the tides are looking like there is only 1 high tide while the park is open :(

If anyone wants to meet up with me when I come down, we can dive the bridge, then check out that artificial reef

Im up for as many dives as possible :D
so at least 2 (one bridge, one artificial reef, maybe 3rd would be the northern artificial reef?)
I'll harass more as Mid august gets closer

I will be staying on Singer Island next week, which was intentionally chosen for it's proximity to the BHB. Does anyone know if there is anyone running a night dive there soon?

I've lived here for how long and this is the first I've seen of it too....I could be game to give it a whirl.
There is another county beach Ocean Reef Park
closer to the northern se of those blocks....might be an easier access/entry.

I've never noticed them either.
Is there public parking near by?

Wow!

I did not know about this. I say Blackvans should immediately be awarded the status of Grand Pooba Troll.

Seriously. Thanks.

(sorry Jim. :D)
