Hey folks a quick heads up and reminder...
Please don't post locations of the various creatures we all love...5 seahorses were harvested from the bridge in the last week.
If someone asks I suppose a pm would work to tell a trusted friend.

I'm going to also be very careful about posting photos that could act as locators as well.

I know everyone cherishes "our" bridge and its residents. Let's not make it easy for the selfish few who are unwilling to preserve is locale.

This crusty-looking hardcore dude thanks all of you. (and now I'm off my high horse for a while):snorkel:

Jim
This makes me ill on so many different levels. I ask all to not even post that you have seen a seahorse or frogfish. There have been photos that I have seen here that because I dive the bridge all the time I guess where they are & go directly to the spot. I am done with sharing except with those I know. Newbies & others can find them on their own. Sad to go that way but your post is extremely disturbing.
Thanks
Deb

PS And I have also guessed locations based on the set of photos posted even if there isn't a seahorse pic but the diver said one was seen! If I can do it I know of one collector who knows the area so well that he too can figure it out & he has no remorse about removing whatever critter he fancies.

I've never been there (yet) but this seems a wise decision. When I make it down I hope to dive with Jenny and I'll just follow her lead.

Thanks Jim. But let's not call it "harvesting." That would imply legitimate hard work & reaping what you sowed. I'm harvesting tomatoes from my garden right now.

This is just plain theft: taking something that is not yours.

This makes me ill on so many different levels.

+1 ...

That is pretty lame. I will follow Deb's lead, and not even mention seeing seahorses anymore....let alone posting pictures of them. That being said, I'll keep my trusted SB members informed via PM.

Totally sucks.. Now it makes sense that I saw two seahorses on two separate dives and both are gone.. Totally sucks. No wonder we haven't seen any in the past couple dives...

Not to stir it up too much, but you people do know that there is no restriction on the collection of tropical marine life at that location,, Right??

Dumpster Diver may be looking for a rise but I would hope he was just being an ass.
Seriously though I hope just saying we saw something would not suffice to mean some POS would go hunting it.
I really enjoy the reports and do not give specifics
(except for that DSLR reef thing......)
Hate to see a resource killed on the basis it was seen at BHB somewhere.
Jim could you pm me specifics????
John

There are dives and then there are dives! Today Jet and I had one of the dives! The viz was back (at 40+) and we had 103 minutes of bliss....I must have lost 500psi laughing as jet followed that eagle ray trying to get a picture, the ray knew exactly where jet was and kept circling her staying just at the edge of viz.
And today was a first, we didn't see any creatures "not fighting". We did see some cuddling, but no "not fighting".

Thanks jet......
