Eye-Bar Sand Goby (Gnatholepis cauerensis)

IMG_0034wa.jpgIMG_0035wa.jpg

As best I can tell, this is a Eye-Bar Sand Goby (Gnatholepis cauerensis). Supposed to just be in the Pacific, I believe.

Finally getting to pics from Jan. 27.

I got there at 5:50am... No one was there to dive, from scubaboard or otherwise. i waited until 7:30 or so to see if any divers showed up.... NONE! A snorkeling group came and offered to let me join, but the one thing I DIDN'T bring? a snorkel ( my snorkel had seen better days so i left it at home as it didnt seem needed in any capacity for this type of dive ) So I left, stopped at Force-E, bought a snorkel, and drove an hour home.... went by Pompano Beach and they had a charity run that made it all but impossible to see what was going on with the possibility of any shore diving... Weekend 2 of having brand new gear/toys, and still haven't even gotten it wet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm like two seconds away from jumping in the shower with my gear on....

Sorry things did not work out too well for you. Patience and planning. I can empathize with you because everything is frozen up here and I can't dive unless we cut a hole in the ice. Be happy for where you are...........

Also, good luck with the new toys!

@ mntblock. it's a goldspot goby

Dadgummit!! How's come a Google Image search didn't show any of the dern things?? I can't *tell* you how much time I wasted looking for it under "blennies". :D

Thanks, Sully. At least I managed to make it into the right genera. . .
