We were diving the bridge today 9/27. We hid the key to the car in a hidden pocket in some gear left on the beach. When we got out, the key and car were gone. None of the rest of our things left on the beach seemed disturbed (just towels, t shirts). We believe the thief(s) were watching for divers, and where they hid thier keys. The PBSO located the car with in a couple of hours, and from we can tell so far, there was no damage, 2 wallets, 2 cell phones and minimal cash were taken. Just a warning, please be careful. By the way, the lifeguards on duty (i don't recall thier names) were MORE than helpful. They were outstanding and we really appericate all thier help.
Have fun diving, and stay safe.

Sorry to hear about this.
I thought they had cleared all the vagrants and scumbags out of the park areas.

What I normally do is have my one necessary car key on a (big) rubber band
kept on my wrist. I leave nothing on the beach.
Whatever I take with me from the car goes underwater with me.

Car Thieives i SAy HANG EM! I am not surprised it was stolen only surprised that you got it back. I'd guess (DEG) it was some Under the Bridge People (UBP's). Anyone with any kind of connections would have stripped at a MINIMUM the stereo.

I have taken to wearing my key under my wetsuit on some paracord. Still when I walk across the beach and find my truck still there I am surprised. It would be easy to see me go in the water and you can see the little flag bobbing around WAY out there.

I read a thread in Hawaii where one of the favorite dive spots has gotten so bad they are splitting into TWO dive groups. One up and One down otherwise they get ripped off.

To quote Bugs Bunny .....bastages....

Why would you do that? I always lock my stuff in my car and never trust a "hidden" key. Car thieves know more hiding places than all of us put together.

Just heard about it from one of the charter boat captains at work this morning. Sorry to hear about that...but glad you got your car back.

Just wondering if you were parked up on the little bridge or in the Park area near the Lifegaurd stand....

You can't take those new fangled keys in the water. My new Camry only has a remote.... I never take it out of my pocket to drive the car. It has one of those magic buttons. :)

Those small dry boxes don't always stay dry, either...

And that's the truth!!!

WOW! Glad you got it back. Luckily for me, I have an old style key, and it goes with me in the water.
