Thanks for sharing the 108 HP service manual! A rare find and nice addition to the SP files.
For the fun of it, here is the MKVIII & 108HP combo from the 1982 catalog.

what is that tube strapped to the gauge hose?

Couldn’t let it go, I think this is the original 108 (that gets upgraded to 080 HP)? 🤷🏽‍♀️
It's been awhile since I looked, but I think the early version 108 shown in that thread cannot be upgraded due the design of case and demand valve body as shown in my photos in this discussion.. Something along the lines of how the early case was not threaded to fit the demand valve body, but later 108 cases had a threaded connection.

I'm guessing the case was changed over to the upgradable version about the time 108s with a larger single exhaust valve replaced the early 108s with the small double stacked exhaust valves.

The service kit however came with 0 orings in it, but everything else barring a new case 😅(lever, spring, seat, jamnut, diaphragm, cover, key and orifice)
did they have something like a rebuild/restoration kits beside service kits? Or just the concept changed over time and now we just get orings and seats?
Here is a shot of second stage upgrade kits listed in catalogs from the late 80's.
