With the amount of ongoing change, in everything. I would never buy anything on speculation, unless it had a 1 year execution, implementatin, plan. I would buy based n needs right now loking frward only a year. I am heading in the directin of a breather, by the time I actually get there who knows what will be "the best, or newest widget"

Good looking Bling Bling (D9tX). Question is, does it also come in lady's model?

Are you referring to me? If so, I don't know how that conclusion was reached.

Just because I think ScubaPro has failed their customers by not coming out with a promised upgrade doesn't mean I bought the Sol 'on speculation'. I am extremely found of my Uwatecs and will continue to use them.

The purpose of this thread was to get others' input on their 'take' on their Trimix computer.

Nah, I doubt it.

I just think someone read something wrong. I grabbed the Sol because it was at a fabulous price (used) and it's a Uwatec!

I'm just really, really sad that the firm(s) aren't following through. However, this may all be a storm in a tea cup, because I don't know how much I would dive trimix. Heck, I don't get enough "any kind of" diving now!

Jax,

As the conversation strayed toward fischer cables and breathers it really did not apply to your OQ. I watched with great amazement the emergance of the X1. Everyone seemed to be on that bandwagon in the beginning, now it is just another choice. My statement was directed at anyone who thinks they can make a good tech purchase now that will be relavant more than 2 years down the road. The r&d people never stop working to improve or change everything. Electronics are super sensitive to near obsolesance in about a 14 month cycle.

FWIW and in MHO,

How you plan to use these tools also enters into the time equation for being oblolete puters. Several people chimed in for tables and BT and RD.

My usage= I dive a cochran emc20 fully unlocked. I fly my computer for dives 150 or less with tables for back up. For dives plus 150 I use the tables and the puter is for a reality check/back up. My position in the food chain had a lot to do with my choice in puter. Someone else may want more features/functions if flying there puter deeper than I am comfortable. I firmly believe that by the time I am comfortable at 200 there will be even more choices than there are now, or I may decide to stay with tables. If and when I get to a rebreather I fully expect there to be a biological interface to the puters from the diver.
I paid less for my cochran than I paid new for my nitek duo new. There are allways people higher than you in the foodchain, the trick is finding them when they are ready to sell something that is obsolete to them.

I might almost agree, Eric; except that the base theory is not changing - various ways to use / combine VPM / VPM-BE / Gradient Factors.

What does change on the 14-month cycle (if it is even that long) is the means by which the information is presented, the ease of use, and the reliability.

*I* would NEVER dive a computer that failed that wasn't factory checked-out . . . but some do.

I sadly realized how important the size of the numbers is . . . size matters! :snicker:

Tables / bottom timer will always be there. The computer is really an expensive toy that can give one an enormous amount of data about a dive . . . some of us like that. ;)

I think that even the models we use and look at continue to change. The deepstop/microbubble/shaping the curve/ oxygen windows. These things continue to change as we get more, better tools to measure what really happens in our bodies. I do not think anything is static anymore.

Size definately matters! I just changed out my primary spg to a 2inch face that glows. Now I can really read it!
