Here's a link to a site with some slides that someone took on a recent trip there; there are a couple of the village tankah
http://seahorse.home.texas.net/

I'm not sure what happened to the village tankah website, but if you call scubashack (the one on carretera costera sur) and ask to speak to Roberta, I'm sure she'll give you info and can email you photos. You can also try blue bubble dive shop; they just bought that shop and may be redesigning the website.

Watch the movie clip for Santa Rosa Wall....kinda makes ya "homesick"!

Okay, you're not the only one in the same dive boat.

What was the final decision? Where is the money best spent? AI, or do it yourself?

We want to know!

I'm assuming you are talking to me? Well, we are still trying to fit the final pieces together - available lodging with available flights with kids time off of school with.... you get the idea. But it looks like we are gonna try the Aldora Villa. It offers most of what we want, for just a little more than what we were looking to spend. We found so many options - it all depends on what you are looking for. We found rooms at AquaSafari for $55/night for 5 people! They look clean and nice. They are just too far from the water for us, and has no beach (important for the girls). Casa Mexican, Bahia Suites, Villa Las Anclas, Caribe Blu, all offer some great value - but they limited us to having to buy two rooms for 5 people. Same with the various B&B's.
As far as AI, we did that last year and my feelings are it's great for someone going for the first time. However, we were so far out of town, we only were able to spend one day in town, and felt like we really missed out on alot. I think that you could probably spend alot less by not going AI. For example, one of the hotels we looked at had an AI plan at about an extra $40 per day per person. For us, that would have been an extra $1200 for food. All I can say after looking at all these places and hearing alot of helpful tips and opinions from others on this board (Thanks!), that it really does come down to personal preference on what you find acceptable and what you like. There are almost too many places on Cozumel to choose from. I know my brain hurts!
