Yeah, that's what I meant. I was referring to the links that I was given in the previous post - sorry about the confusion. I have found some other options, like B & B's, but hard part is finding somebody with experience at those places. Plus, I like that Caribe Blu is on the water, even if it doesn't have a real beach.

If you're interested in a B&B check out Alicias's B and B She has an excellent reputation with great rates. A single large room is $280/week. It's in a residential neighborhood away from the beach. Cabfare to international pier is $4 and into town is $2

I've stayed there twice and really enjoyed it.

Thanks, I have heard other good reports about Alicia's. Problem that I am starting to run into, is finding a single place for 5 people. Caribe Blu has a one room max of 4, and I don't know about how many rooms I would need for a place like Alicia's. I might be forced into looking at a 2 room condo or villa.

VRBO is where I get my best deals, you deal with the owner, not an agent..

Is there any reason other than the cheapness factor that you want to all stay in one room? Caribe Blu has some pairs of rooms that adjoin by an interior connecting door.

No, just the fact that two rooms automatically doubles the cost of lodging. Believe me, other than keeping costs down, the wife and I would have no qualms about having the kids stay in a separate room. :eyebrow:

You can stay at the Safari for $44.00 a night. Nothing fancy, not a bad location either. I haven't stayed there, but I looked inside their rooms the last trip to Cozumel.

Check out Village Tankah; it's a B&B (sort of) right next to Casa del Mar. They have a small "apartment", basically a large living room/kitchen with a double bed, then a separate bedroom, and 2 baths, that might be exactly what you need. It's really nice, and the dive op, Roberta's Eco-dive cozumel, is terrific and owned by the same couple. They are also known as scubashack, and they just bought blue bubble divers. I've stayed at village tankah and dove with Roberta a few times and have really been happy. The location is great; near La Ceiba, meaning excellent shore dives, and either a long walk or short cab ride into town. One other thing, you mght want to check out isla bicicletta in town; they rent high quality mountain bikes by the day, you can probably get a good weekly rate from them too. Next time I go to Cozumel, I'm renting a bike for the whole time I'm there. It's the best and least expensive way to get around. I'd probably save the whole bike cost in cab fare just going into town for a decent coffee (the coffee bean, if you're a fellow caffeine addict)

Have fun; and I bet Roberta's place is just what you're looking for.

Hotel Barracuda is reasonably priced, has a beach with a snack bar for breakfast and lunch and is within easy walking distance of downtown. Dive Paradise has a shop on site so you can rent tanks for night beach dives or afternoon cool off dives. Bay Adventures out of Miami puts together packages and are real flexible to work with.

They have refrigerators in the rooms and the supermarket is 3 blocks away. That can take care of breakfast and lunch expense. I recommend Cafe Denis for dinner, good food reasonably priced. I was there for a month and ate dinner at Cafe Denis more than half the time.

Wouldn't happen to have a link, or some pics, would ya? I've been able to search and find everyplace mentioned on here so far, but can't find this one.

I suggest flying FunJet, staying at Hotel Cozumel, diving with Deep Blue. You'll like the hotel and the convenience of meeting the dive boat across the street at the hotel's dock. The beach area is nice, has an open air restaurant, showers and rinsing areas for your gear. Deep Blue will treat you like friends and take you on awesome dives. Go for a walk to the grocery store to get snacks and food for breakfast and lunch, and look for a reasonable place for a family dinner. If you're on a boat for am dives you're not going to eat much of a breakfast anyway. factor in some money for tips because its the right thing to do. Tour the reefs with Deep Blue because when all is said and done, its all about the diving, right ? Dive masters Javier, Pablo, and Gustavo will treat you like dear friends. Owner Deb, and manager Kevin are wonderful.
