What I have found: recently took some GoPro2 with ProTune activated. iMovie will take the files but a long wait time. There are two 64 bit software editing programs I am aware of 1. Cyberlink Powerdirector 64 2. Sony Vegas Pro 64. I use Powerdirector 64 in a gaming computer Win 7 i7 Nvidia chip and it is very fast, can start rough cutting immediately. On a powerful tower computer, AMD 6 core 2GB Nvidia chip graphic cpu running XP 32 bit OS I have, Nero 12 works pretty good but sloooow. Corel Video Studio Pro works surprisingly good. GoPro Cineform took over my computer, did a lousy job of updating firmware, and took forever to convert a file to AVI so I unstalled it. Adobe just crashed repeatedly. Hitting the auto color balance was an eye opener with the ProTune clips. However, wish I had shot a CY filter at depth since there was no red.

Bottom line, the 64 bit programs work faster
