Pete you obviously have too many choices. Did you know this is a cause of harmful psychological stress in the modern first world? I think you’d better hand off that Teric to me and simplify your life ;-)

$hearwater computers seem great, but for an open water diver on a budget the cost is truly a barrier. Tec always comes down, I’ll have to wait. Meanwhile... happy with my old Oceanic computers on DSAT.

Hi aquacat8,

I agree with you on all points. We have three Oceanics. They have served us very well.

My redundant computer is an Oceanic wrist mounted (my wife always corrects me, it is hers that she no longer needs because she has her Oceanic ProPlus).

The outer case has cracked and the wrist band is starting to fail.

Instead of replacing the broken parts, I bought a Perdix AI (I was too cheap to spring for the sender-- I will use it in non-AI mode). I have it set for recreational diving.

The screen is amazing. I have customized the main screen just the way I like it. Batteries are easy to change and I am using off the shelf lithium batteries from Lowes (Home Depot, CVS, Wallgreens, Safeway, 7-11, Kroegers, et allia). No special tools required.

Now, I won't here my wife correct me constantly about "HER" computer that I have on my wrist.

When the time comes to either replace or repair your trusty Oceanic, take a Shearwater for a test-dive.

Actually my excuse for not having Shearwater, besides $$$, was that I wanted a watch form and a freediving mode. The Teric has ruined that excuse!

Bruce, Lynn, and their team knew you needed that so they designed the Teric just for you. Now you MUST buy one!

Ha Haaa,

In a few years there will be an Teric 3.0 or something... you big bucks diving studs will upgrade, then I will buy or trade for one of y’all’s old Terics, hopefully from someone like Pete who had so many computers he hopefully only lightly used it.

I wonder what the new Teric will do? Mind control interface? Underwater GPS? Sonar? Speak dolphin?

Or.... my birthday IS in May ;-)

May what? May 7 for me. For my birthday, you buy me the sender for my Perdix AI and I will spend an equal amount on your slightly used Teric (Oh, and Bruce has said that they stand behind their products even if saved from the orphanage).

Here's another reason to buy Shearwater, they publish firmware updates for free on their website. You can keep the software current while sitting in your basement, or while laying in bed with hubby (or wifee, or friend, or dog).

One of my Oceanics cost me $150 dollars to get updated firmware (and four weeks).
