Ok so here it goes... I'm looking for a reg for the Mrs. Everyone she has tried thus far (not many) she has said that she had to work to get air. She is new to diving and there is some anxiety at work for sure. We all know rental gear sux as evidenced when I tried her sherwood brut. So, which is the best reg for easy breathing? I use a sherwood magnum and have no complaints but I know there are a lot better regs out there for ease of breathing. So many brands and opinions, enlighten me please!

Very subjective, and there are a lot of great ones.

Personally, what impressed me most so far are the Aqualung Legend and the Hollis DC1 212. So I own one of each.

My wife got a Mares V42 for Christmas and says it breathes effortlessly. She also likes the fact that is compact, light and because of being all metal, greatly reduces (or eliminates) dry mouth. She previously dove an Aeris Pro, Mares Abyss (too heavy), Mares V16 w/Proton XL and a Mares V32 Proton Ice - and says the V42 is the best.

I can't confirm it, since she says the only way I get to use it is to pry it out of her cold, dead hands :D:D

I have the Titan LX and never had any complaints with it. It breathes well at 10' and at 120'. They are not badly priced either.

+1 on the Aqualung Legends. They are amazing regs.

I have Dive Rite Hurricanes set up for my doubles and I would say they breathe as well as the Legends.

I also own a set of Aqualung Titans. I do not put them in the same class as the above regs. They are a great workhorse reg, but they just don't deliver air as well as the Legends or the Hurricanes.

(1) ScubaPro MK25/S600
(2) Oceanic EOS
(3) Aqualung Legend LX
(4) Atomc B2

I know these will give her all the air she Needs,But there are many others:D
You would be Hard Pressed to find a better breathing reg then the MK25/S600

In my experience, The EOS breathes better than the mk25. I would reccomend either that or the slightly cheaper Delta 4. Both use Oceanic's FDX-10 overbalanced first stage and have an integrated second stage swivel to reduce hose pull.

You can't go wrong with either choice. Both are cheaper and IMO easier breathing than anything from AquaLung or ScubaPro

I just had the PLESURE of testing the 1st Dutch Oceanic EOS.:D
And YES that was a PLESSURE,my "normal daily reg."is the Atomic Ti1(witch I love)
But the EOS out performed by a Long way.(Had to sent the EOS back :( )
If the Mrs.is looking for a easy breather, this is a very good choise.

Since I have both the Legend and the Titan LX I have had the opportunity to swap seconds and firsts and frankly any differences are just about imaginary. The Legend has the extra knob so when it is turned for best performance it breaths about as good as the Titan LX. If I take the Legend second and put on the Titan first, again, just not much difference. If I take the Titan and the Legend and put them on doubles, one left and the other right, and then swap breathing on them, if you forget which one your on you can always flip the second over and see which has the bling ring unless last time you took it apart you swapped the bling ring to the Titan. The only difference between the Legend second and the Titan second is the bling ring and the flow knob.

The first stages as well are similar. They are both derivitives of the original Royal Aqua Master first that is used in the Conshelf and then Titan and now with some modification in the Legend. They even use the same 105940 HP seat etc. Overbalanced, yeah, whatever. N
