Nope, it's just ends up festooning out of the pocket and then you need to stuff it back. Just hang it on the outside in the first place, bungeed to a D-ring and then you don't need to practice the extra second often.

I do have a belt pouch, but then I almost never dive in 7 mm gloves. And even so, I stitched on some 1/2" webing so I can attach things to the outside instead of keeping them inside.
I've never had that issue. But, i don't over stuff the pockets. If its an emergency, I don't care what the contents of the pockets look like. If its not an emergency, I prefer the cleanliness of keeping things in pockets.

I have never noticed this festooning either, and my pocket composition is typically composed of 3-4 spools, large wetnotes, backup mask, 1 backup light per pocket, 1 signal mirror for solo diving buddy checks, one "navigation kit" of extra cookies, arrows, and REMs, stainless adjustable wrench, XS "scuba star" or whatever they're calling them, and various other sundry items like extra bolt snaps, spare bungee pack, etc. SMB's get added for ocean dives, one each 1m and 3m models. Sure they're pretty full, but I've never had any of it feel unmanageable at all. In fact, I find it much easier to deploy exactly what I'm looking for than I ever did when I had BCD pockets and stuff clipped everywhere.

My slate goes in and out of my belt pouch whenever I feel like re-setting the white balance: not often enough to keep it outside all the time, not "deployed" once either.

Why not bungee it on the underside of your tray? When you need to reset your white balance, whip it forward, get your new WB, back to bungeed underneath. That way you're not even messing with a pocket, and it stays streamlined and accessible, without having to worry about the rest of the stuff in your pocket making a mess.

I never had issues without stuff in My pockets. They never fall and I wear dry gloves. No issues

No tray, just a basic sealife dc1400. Some day I might get a cheap "tactical" pouch with a separate open pocket for the slate, and keep the stuff that rarely comes out in the zippered compartment. When I need to add ten bucks to my order to get free shipping worth $8...

Heres a trick you may/may not already know about WB. Take the shot off of your spg (assuming it has white background), or take the shot off the sand. I got rid of my slate after a pro told me this and sure enough after doing comparisons, I cant tell the difference.

Heh. Good one, but when I get around to getting my own regs I'll pick an AI computer to go with them and leave the SPG in my dive bag. As for sand, I find it to not always be there at the depth where I want to make a shot.

I use a Dive Rite zippered bellows pocket on the right side of my waist belt, mainly as something route the 7 ft. hose under on simple dives--when I'm not using a canister light. I rarely have anything inside it. SMB, light, etc., all are clipped off to D-rings. Some people route the hose under a knife or shears, but I already have my cutting device on the left side. If I recall correctly, you're using a shorter "long" hose, so you don't have this problem.

I have pocket shorts but haven't used them since acquiring a drysuit with pockets to facilitate more complex diving in my future. The pocket shorts do the job, but it's one more item of gear to don/doff, forget to bring, have to rinse, etc. If a dive doesn't call for things like a backup mask and wetnotes, I can manage fine without pockets.

Actually I’m using a 7’ hose, which means I should route it under something. I already have a weight pocket on my right side that I can route it under but still interested in getting a separate pocket.
