LOL!!! just make sure when you do, you puncture the wing so that those pesky bungees can squeeze all the air out them at depth and cause your death.....otherwise it would make no sense to do it - make sure you Do It Right!?

Oh c'mon... if you got trained by the same agency that trained some vocal jerks who like to bash other divers, it's fair to bash you, right? That's reasonable. :icon_roll

Personally, I have as little use for knee-jerk DIR bashing as I do for DIR lemmings... I find both kinds of extremists tiresome.

I haven't personally tried the OMS BWOD, but my old Dive Rite Rec-Wings had a bungied gusset cord. I found that it did have a tendency to squeeze the wing, but only when it was inflated tightly. I never had a problem at depth, but a surface swim with any kind of puncture could require constant attention to the inflator. I tried taking the bungie off to eliminate the potential (but never experienced) problem, but I wound up with a big ol' taco and put it back on. I've since retired it and use non-bungied wings that are the right size for the job. I don't need elastic to keep them from flopping, and there's nothing there to squeeze the bladder if it's inflated.

Well, instead of ruining a perfectly good bladder, I can unscrew the OPV and use it like that so the guy who recovers the body can use the wing later lololol.

Seriously now, some DIR folks like to bash other people, but I know many DIR folks that try to change that label and attitude from the group and I respect them very much. I use some of the DIR configs 'cause I find them usefull and adapt them to my dive style.

Also I can see the need for standarization on a highly dificult technical dive like the one that inspired DIR, but for the average diver and many tech divers simply DIR is not needed.

Lets not make this an anti DIR thread, lets show them that we can understand and respect their choices, but they have to respect ours.

All the name calling is a great diversion from the actual question of whether the individual saying that the bungees squeeze air out of the wing from any position, has actually used a bungeed wing. . .

I could see that being somewhat of an issue at the surface. If you are weighted properly it should be manageable, though.
