Consider the difficulty of orally inflating proved.
Uhh...OK. I'll just forget about what several people just related and my own experience orally inflating at depth and consider it proved.

I fail to see how a couple of atmospheres of water pressure is any different than the bungees. . .
Am I misreading this or is this a basic misunderstanding of physics?

Are you saying you descend a couple ATMs and the pressure will squeeze the air out in a similar manner to the bungies if you open a dump valve?

The quote was "decreased ability to orally inflate."

I've experienced this. Therefore it's proved. You may have experience with no decreased ability to orally inflate, but that wasn't the statment in question, sorry. Bungees CAN cause difficulty in oral inflation, case closed.

Another advantage that the bungies offer, is the ability to restrict the air in part of the bladder, this aplication can be used when slinging bottles, that way you can let more air on the side of the bottle to offset the weight of the bottle on that side.

I've never tried this, since I dive a very balanced rig, but seems reasonable to me.

Maybe someone with more experience can chime in on this subject.

I never claimed to be physics major. I am saying that the bungees DO NOT squeeze air out of the bladder while diving. If they did, I could open the lower pull dump from any position and air would be "squeezed" out of my wing.

The strength and weakness of bungied wings are directly proportional to how tight the bungies are.

As far as benefits of bungee wings go this seems to be about it so far in this thread:

xiSkiGuy:
-The bungees seem to minimize the effects of massive airshifts when compared to non bungeed wings that I have tried.

After a couple dozen dives with standard double wings I'm no longer really seeing this as a problem to be fixed.

-The bungees seem to minimize the “taco” effect when using a single tank with a wing designed for doubles (most bungeed wings are designed for doubles). A single tank wing still is better, though.

This is easily solved by using a single tank wings on single tanks.

So, what other benefits are there to bungee wings?

Maybe you had to readjust the bungies again, maybe not, I don't know, but every diver have to test any new gear in a controlled enviroment before taking it to use.

The only time that I have to make more effort to orally inflate the wing is at the last few blows before the OPV opens up and if anyone have to inflate the wing that much, he/she probably need a bigger wing

I'm not sure how to quantify how tight my bungees are. I installed them according to OMS's instructions: Stretch bungees before installing and install on a fully inflated wing.

You've orally inflated your BC until the OPV opened up? :wow:

Not that I've experienced trouble inflating a bungied wing but man I've never filled a wing to that point,
