200+ posts phew!
I dive both bungied/banded (whatever the pc term is) and un B... wings.
For those who feel that the bungies are an added failiure point:
If you claim that an unbungied wing is safer/as safe as a bungied one, then EVEN IF the bungie were to fail then that failiure wouldn´t effect your safety/comfort and hece, by definition, not a problem.
Analog is losing the pink snorcle in my pocket that I haven´t used since age 9, it wouldn´t affect my dive at all....
For those who do prefer a bungied wing:
If you claim the bungies provide some benefit, then that benefit would be lost by failuire of the bungie. If that is how you feel then a bungie failiure is an issue that does effect your safety/comfort.
If my pink snorcle is important to my mental wellbeing then losing it would cause problems...
You cannot (logically) have it both ways.
My first wing (bungied) saved me money or/and discomfort. I couldn´t afford two wings. I needed a wing for both singles and doubles. The alternative to my bungied wing in singles was my original "stabjacket"...Instead I dove my BP and my configured kit on all my dives, to me that was a big benefit...not applicable to you or your situation? Then dive what you want...
The "non"-issues with BW and UBW:
-Added resistance (either way, by tacoing or bungees...of course the no-tacoing is dependent on the size of wing)
-Difficulty to inflate (I can do it without issues with both kinds of wings @ 180 ft)
-restricted air flow/excessive airmovement (for the first part it depends on how you install the bungies and the airmovement is something you learn to anticipate and avoid quickly)
-Puncture wth resulting excessive leakage: I haven´t managed to puncture my OMS wing (or the unbungied one)...how often does this happen and aren´t you supposed to dive with alt. bouyancy device?!
-Snag/entrapment wth bungie: Has never happened to me...theoretically it could happen but then so could a lot of other things...
I think that covers it...
