Well, mixed results. First - COOOOLD! 51F at 75 ft (Ruby E) and also at 55 ft (NOSC tower). Who knows, the next step be a dry suit.

20lbs (14 on the belt and 6 for the plate) - I was at least a tad overweighted. The main thing is that I was very feet heavy. It was hard work being horizontal.

Then I remembered that I usually had 8-10 lbs in the shoulder pockets in the KnightHawk to trim out. So I clearly need to find a way to get a fair amount of weight mulch higher on my body.

One suggestion was to use the Highland V pouches, one on each side, attaching them to the bolt holes on the edges of the plate. The other of course is weights on the upper cam band.

Don't second guess yourself and then add more weight at the last minute. I did that my first time diving open water in a BPW and was quite heavy on the dive. Normal weight minus weight of the steel. Don't feel the need to add more.

And Wreck Alley is much more comfortable in a drysuit. Just sayin'. Check out the Coronados - the sea lions are very cool this time of year.
I did the normal weight minus the weight of the plate and sank like a rock. Apparently, there's a lot of extra buoyancy in all the typical BCD "stuff".
