I had never seen the ducks like that. That was pretty cool, but the visibility was worse than I had ever seen there. Maybe it's just because I was hanging with the OW students. It seemed a little better Sunday morning. I'll PROBABLY be back on Feb 25th. Maybe I'll see some of you then. I'm sure I'll be using my gray and yellow wetsuit again...... Look for me. :14:
:hmmm: If you had a lot of ducks feeding, then you had a lot of duck caca - which would reduce viz. :D

The worst that I've ever seen it was in October/November 2004, when the springs were really flowing because of all the rain that new mexico was getting. The water was up to the bricks of the sidewalk (25' depths before altitude correction), the springs were pushing allot of sediment into the spring, The flow from the mouths of the springs were unbelieveable - They were pushing rocks about 2 inches in diameter about 1 1/2 feet off the floor of the spring, and we had about 1 foot of visibility and we were the only people in the class (about 8 people total). I could stretch my arm out infront of me and not see my hand. Ranger Tom actually closed the park for a while after we left because the state basically say's that there has to be a minimum of 3 foot of visibility.

We got in the water about 1:00 Saturday and finished up about 5:30. Sunday we were finished a little before 9:00. ... the visibility was worse than I had ever seen there.
Well, that explains it. We had done 2 dives and were off for our tour of the mountains by then. We didnt get back until around 1030pm and I didnt get up till about 9am on Sunday. :)

I think there must have been at least 6 different groups there and I bet I saw a total of at least 50 different divers. Quite a few folks for such a small pool.
