I LOVE my Atomic B2! No problem, love it, love it, love it! Do you REALLY want to rely on a "cheap" life support device? I think not...just MHO.

BTW-I haven't seen Forrest Gump either, we'll be social outcasts together...:D

Hank49: Just curious, how much was that part?

ScubaDiva: The Z2 breaths as well (better actually on some tests) and is "cheap" ;)

I will say that standing on my head looking under a ledge that I thought the reg actually breathed better than in a normal postion.
I was working as an underwater camera op on a music video when I realized that in order to put my eye up to the viewfinder on the camera I needed my reg hose to be coming from the left. I just fliped my Z1 upside down and routed the hose from the left side. It breathed great the whole time, although it was a bit awkward having the reg body hitting my nose.... Next time I operate without a monitor I will definitely be bringing a reg that is designed to be breathed from either side.

p.s. For anyone who cares it was a Hydroflex housing with a super16 SRII inside, video tap running to the surface, but no underwater monitor for me :-(

I believe it was about US$16. I got it through....Bob (sorry Bob but I can't remember your online name) something here on SB. He's got the avatar with the bell helmet and is a dealer of some sort for scuba parts. That's how I found SB...while looking on the Internet for the replacement part.

I just went through the Atomic Reg class (the lite version by Chad barbay). I was very impressed with how consistent they are and most impressed by their "Jet Valve". I will be trying these out for the first time in a cave (Blue Spring) this Wednsday. This is a High Flow spring, so I will be checking these out for suitability (I am in the reg market).

I think I found out WHY I like piston regs so much. They don't deform over time like the diaphragms.

Yay! Just picked up my Atomic Z2/Z1 octo (and plumped for an Oceanic triple swivel navcon thingy into the bargain.)

Uhhmd and ahhd about whether to buy "grey" online, and potentially save myself a hundred quid or so.. in the end, went to the LDS and they were spot on. They even discounted everything by a hundred quid! So that's top marks for Mike's Dive Store in Chiswick, and another thumbs up for the LDS from me.

Righto I'm off to stick my head in the bathtub.. can't wait to splash in proper :D

Hooray!!!

*caresses lovely new kit* ;)

audission: I dive the z2/z1 combo. Couldn't be happier. I'm actually looking to convert them to DIN and add the enviro seal option and then add another Z2 first stage for a set of doulbes (just as soon as I find the money :) )

Just as a heads up, I have found my B2 to breathe better and better the deeper you go. 60': fantastic. At the surface: completely unremarkable.

The automatic depth compensator thing (that keeps it from freflowing madly at the surface) works so well, that I can tell when I'm at safety stop depth without looking!

So I guess I'm saying don't expect superlative breathing in the bathtub. It really comes into it's own at depth.

All the best, James

Is there a link or SB thread that talks about the difference between the B2, M1 and Z2?

I could be wrong but I think it's Bob3 ... he's out of CA I just had some dealings with him and he's a great guy... if he can help you out I'm sure he will!
