Is it wrong on his license? 9 times out of 10 that is what POs are basing their info on. You can put just about anything on your DMV license application, and they don't always check that carefully. They mistakenly thought a 7 was a 1 on my license application, and magically I lost 1/2 a foot of height.

On California DL's colors are abbreviated as BRN and GRN. If the license is well-worn, or it's dark, it's easy to mistake one for the other.
As I've stated already I highly doubt the ticket will get kicked for that one particular error.

I've not heard anything about targeting motor homes towing cars. I know that when it comes to drug interdiction, a classic example officers are given for training is the motorhome driven by two "grandparents" filled with drugs. It shows that officers cannot pass judgement on anyone, and it helps dispell any "what does a drug smuggler look like" misconceptions.
As far as Buzzard V California, I'm not familiar with that one. I searched it, but I see a number of rulings. Can you give me a few details so I may narrow my search?

It has to do with military not having to tag cars in any state other than their home of record
States are getting very aggressive with empty tax coffers, especially California.
Nevada recently sent out post cards where you had to respond with proof of insurance (even if registration required you to show insurance the prior month) If you do not respond, they cancel your registration. They were finding people would buy insurance, register their cars and then cancel to get the cash.
The officer would not accept my current insurance card for twice the legal requirement of coverage and said we had to deal with Carson City DMV.

That's the one I thought you meant. It's an oldie (from 1965), and it reads like stereo instructions!! I'll see if I can find a plain English version.
