Trust me, working under the jurisdiction of the 9th Circuit Court, the most reversed appellate court in the country, I have to work under conditions where even the people making the rules can't make up their mind.

trust me, i feel for you. i've only litigated two cases in California, and by
the time we figured out what the law was the second time around (it had recently
been changed, again) the darned legislature changed the code (it was an
employment issue) and we had no clue what the law was. neither did the judge,
but that's a different issue

plus, it appears there's an unwritten law in the 9th Circuit that no case
must be left standing longer than six months. i had never seen so much
"dead law" lying around.

I try not to eat donuts in public, and I don’t' drink coffee.

Despite the drastic drop in the number of donut shops just since I came on the job, this is a myth that seems to refuse to die. You're more likely to find a cop parked in front of 7-11 or even Starbucks nowadays.

But I guess the jokes involving cops holding Slurpees and Big Gulps or double shot espresso's just aren't as funny.

RonDawg:
And we shouldn't Andy. You cross a very dangerous line when an officer decides which laws he/she will enforce, and which won't be enforced. If you start acting as appellate court judge, what's to stop you from becoming the jury too, and ultimately the executioner?

I agree completly. You dont want police deciding which laws to enforce and which not to. I didn't become a cop to be judge, jury, and executioner. Thats not the role I want to be filling.

I've got a feeling that the 9th Circuit judges have some sort contest going as to who can come up with the most bizarre ruling ever. Some of their opinions make you wonder if they're doing drugs while on the bench.

You know its funny, I dont even like donuts, but give me a slurpee and I'm in heaven:D I dont drink to much coffee while at work either. I like soda's with a screw on top. When I take a corner fast, I dont have to worry about it spilling everywhere.

I've heard some of the iwrd things those guys are doing. I feel bad for you guys having to work under their decisions.

I'm sure they pickup my attitude when I get pulled over, especially if someone else was going faster than me. Oh, one night a cop in a SUV was on my "A", and I didn't even know there was SUV cops cars. Oh well, I thought this guy was trying to harrass me and I sped up. Not a good idea, he waited till I was doing a 100 before the lights went on. You can imagine how polite I was that night......haha, it's all fun and makes for good bar stories with your buddies.

PS. My worst one so far, in South Africa I was caught three times in one day by the same cop, all for speeding? Geezuz!!!!!

I know how you feel. I once drove with a buddy of mine, Dave, from Kimberley to Vancouver on highway #3 just north of the Canada/US border..... He got three speeding tickets in about 90 minutes, all three of which were for going something like 10 km/h over the speed limit.

The third time Dave just jumped out of the car and *ripped* his license out of his wallet (which had the cops diving for cover) and threw it at them screaming "go ahead you flesh eating *Bas*tar*drds*s! give me another one!!! What the F* to I care!!......"

After that he drove *exactly* the speed limit for about 500km and had a traffic jam behind him for about 25km before we hit a section of road with two lanes..... LOL :D

He still moans about that at parties.....LOL

Its to hard of a question to answer. There are to many factors that go into a persons BAC. How often they drink, wieght, body fat, how much the person ate, what they ate, male or female, etc...

Thanks for the reply. Since the 1 drink an hour metabolism is not a good rule to plan a social outing on, how long would you recommend waiting before driving after 2 drinks within 1 hour and no alcohol afterwards. I don't mean to be a pain or nit picky about it. I just want to be sure I am being safe when I do go out for a lunch that includes a drink or two.

BTW you guys/ladies do a great job.

Thanks

LMAO!! That's so awful and so funny, all at the same time. I was in Wallaceburg, Ontario a couple weeks before Christmas. I drove from Detroit. I was sooooo careful!

I've driven into Vancouver from Seattle numerous times (I have friends and relatives on both sides of the 49th) and funny, I've never been stopped, much less cited...

Suddenly jumping out of your car on a traffic stop BTW is not recommended unless you like staring down the barrel of a gun.
