New owner of AK19-067 and trying to find an 'owners manual' to determine how and when to adjust the Volcano Orifice screw on the second stage of the regulator. 3 indicated positions and currently in center position. Just received the reg and have yet to dive it.

Thanks...Phil

The volcano orifice this could lead to confusion 🤣

Read that info from the Website. Unless it is significantly messed up, leave it at that factory setting....

Will not touch...BUT what exactly does it adjust and why?

I don't remember the specifics, so read the information on the website...
Yup....I have read everything I could find and only 'heard' Bryan mention the "Volcano Orifice" in a video....hence why I was inquiring if the AKs ever had an owner's manual....no big deal.....closest I came was this at VDH about the VO: "The replaceable and adjustable hard seat (volcano orifice) permits ultra-fine tuning" ....but is that tuning of breaking pressure on inhale?

And again there was this: "With the Argonaut, both the 1st stage and 2nd stage volcano orifices can be replaced. This guaranties optimal performance at the most critical dynamic sealing interfaces. With a good volcano orifice, a good seal can be obtained without the need of adjusting (increasing) the spring force compression on the soft seat." Two VOs?

Never. Leave it aligned to the middle position and flush to surface. Turning the orifice out can result in insufficient gas flow as the orifice will retreat into the broach it sits inside and turning inward can alter/drop the lever adjustment.

Here is a photo of my DD6 Kraken now owned by a buddy. You can clearly see that if you turn that orifice out that the LP seat will come to rest upon the edge of the broach, not the knife edge, restricting air flow. That is not good.

Correctly aligned adjustable orifice and set flush for best engagement with the LP seat.

The useful advantage is that the orifice is now replaceable and a damaged orifice no longer ruins an expensive piece of equipment.

As I remember, it adjusts the distance between the orifice and the seat. There is a complication in that the rotation also disturbs the alignment of the internal airway, thus the limited adjustment range before airflow is cut off. I found no perceivable difference in ease of breathing due to the adjustment.
