I dive an old Canon G7X in a Nauticam housing. I generally shoot just ambient light for bigger stuff. My photos are just for me, family and friends, not very serious. I do pretty well, good enough for me. Trip Report - Back in SE Florida, part 3, You can't always get what you want...

I'm a photographer but also a scientist with a particular interest in syngnathids (seahorses, pipefish, etc.). I take photographs to document what I see and keep track of individuals I see on a regular basis. Some of the photographs are for my own interest/research and some I contribute to citizen science projects.

I almost always feel great after a dive, particularly if I have spotted (and photographed) all my regulars, and even more so if I've spotted some new individuals or more rarely seen species.

For example, I was ecstatic after I found this very rarely seen Red Pipefish even though the conditions on the dive had been poor (bad surge and poor viz.).
