@mcohen1021 that era of regs wasn't great, you should have considered replacing with apeks once we stopped using dialup internet
For not being great, that regulator has been bulletproof for 30 plus years.

Maybe time to upgrade my 300 baud one then.I have an old 14.4 modem I could send you if I can locate it in the attic lol
@BoltSnap most were on broadband by 2004, but comcast started rolling out cable internet in the late 90s
I don't think that's realistic in this case. Apeks is mostly regs and in order to standardize components you would have to develop either all new Apeks regs or all new AL regs. That's really pricey and leave you with the same issue.I would guess there will be less duplication between Apeks & AL as well as standardization of components to reduce supply chain costs. This is all a normal workflow in M&A and having spent time in PE, it can happen quickly.
I never thought of Apeks and AL going after the same customer base. Apeks is more of a tech diving company, and AL more of a rec diving company. Then there’s US Divers for the snorkeling crowd. Even where there is some overlap, such as with the Fusion drysuit line, the Apeks versions are more tech-oriented.I don't think that's realistic in this case. IMHO, getting rid of Apeks and reducing the AL product range would be the most reasonable move. In my opinion it never made sense that Apeks were owned by the same company as both brands were going after the same customer. When a company has more brands, each brand usually goes after a different crowd like Audi, VW, Skoda, Lamborghini and Porsche.
I do note that since AL takeover of APEKS, APEKS seems to me to present a more "blingy" line... Lots of fancy redoing of stuff with new graphic dazzle. I kind of like the old fashioned functional look. To me it said more about great engineering and execution; better function, than does swoopy lines engraved on what was a workhorse reg.I never thought of Apeks and AL going after the same customer base. Maybe in the States. Over here Apeks is pretty much run of the mill. Euro rec boats and rec quarry dive sites are full with Apeks. 'Tec' divers do use more Apeks than AL but the tec market is tiny. I don't know actual numbers but I reckon it seems MUCH bigger online than it is in real life.I never thought of Apeks and AL going after the same customer base.
