Paying $60-70M (~£48m-56m) for a company with a book value of £6.67m and currently losing £1.4m/year (per most recently available financials)....... would be a profoundly poor business decision.
A lot of the dive business seems to be founded on bad decisions by people who think that business as usual means doing it like its 1980. . .

Just sayin' :)

The Aquasense and the Defy.Ultra are the first products for creating "luxury brands" in the AQ portfolio.
Just imagine back in 2015 where the HQ of AQ was in Vista, CA and the management team was international.
Now the HQ is in France and the management team is ...... correct - not international anymore. This might be one of many reasons why AQ is struggling since the PE companies bought it back in 2016.

Right?!? Everything from the big corporations to the local small business owners in this industry have a way of doing things that is 2-3 decades behind - in every aspect of the business! With a few companies (and I’m sure somewhere local shops) being exceptions. What is the deal?

SCUBA is still dominated by Boomers, and that is how we roll.

Thank God for that!

It was, not anymore, some boomers think they are still running it, you can ID them by being bosses at companies going under.

It's been past time for the boomers to stop controlling the industry, y'all had a great run in the mid 70-90's and then ran it into the ground from end 90's to recently. People the age the boomers were when the industry was healthy and growing and what is needed for health and growth now, and has been needed a long time. But, dive instructors have egos and most haven't seen it.

I did get a laugh out of this. Do you guys also prefer to have to get up and walk to the TV to change the channel? Cause that’s what this whole thing feels like sometimes.

Signed - a millennial who IS old enough to remember pay-phones and those shuck-shuck carbon paper things they used to put my parents credit cards in when I was a kid. Progress is not a dirty word 😂.

I find it sometimes better than spending ten minutes searching for the remote control.
