I'm putting together a Tech Deco/Helitrox (AN/DP+Helitrox) course that will include a weekend in Pompano diving the wrecks down there. By adding helium into the breathing mix, Helitrox allows you to dive to 150' with reduced narcosis and impairment and is a safer alternative to technical nitrox.

The course will be broken into three weekends. Part 1, Intro to Tech, will be the first weekend of May (May 3-5) in High Springs, and will introduce you to technical diving configurations. It will be 3 days long and include 4 dives. Intro to Tech, or being an intro to cave diver, will be a pre-req for the Technical Decompression Diver portion of the course.

Parts 2 and 3 will be conducted in June and will be the Technical Decompression Diver + Helitrox program (aka AN/DP+Helitrox) held over two weekends with a total 10 dives. Part 2 will be a 3 day weekend (June 7-9) in High Springs and Hudson, with lecture covering an examination of decompression theory, decompression dive planning, emergency management, and equipment considerations plus six dives. Part 3 (June 15/16) will be the subsequent weekend, and will include four dives in South Florida.

Send me a PM if you're interested in more details.

Please consider TDI Sidemount instead of Intro to tech. I went Sidemount, An/DP, Helitrox route and was very satisfied.

Sidemount and Intro to Tech are not the same thing. It would be extremely difficult for a student with no sidemount experience to pass sidemount and AN/DP+Helitrox with the standards and time frame that Ken has for this class.

There is nothing here about no mixed teams/sidemount. If a person is already diving sidemount, they can still participate in this class.

The final four days will be in the gulf stream, a place with a prevailing current that can be pretty strong. Sidemount isn't the right tool -- farting around trying to don cylinders will be a great way to get blown off the wreck.

AN/DP + Helitrox is hands down the "profile"I get a tremendous amount of enjoyment out of. Puts me safely on allot of cool wrecks.

Ken,

I for one am especially glad that you're incorporating Hudson Grotto into this course.

Dude, you know it! As the saying goes, "I dove Hudson Grotto and all I got was this staph infection." :)

BTW -- glad to see you posting. Hope you're doing well.
