I would recommend doing a few dives based out of Playa. Tortugas dive is great if you want to see turtles. The times we have done it the current is very strong so you basically sit back and just fly over the bottom and watch the turtles go by that are feeding. Usually see 10-20 plus there must be just tons of others that are out of your vision as these are the ones you pass over. By the time you would see any off to the side you couldn't swim fast enough to get in position to be near them because of the fast current.

We love to go just a bit south of Tulum to the beaches down there, they are some of the prettiest in the area.
 
I'd suggest more Cenote Dives. Grand Cenote, Dos Ojos and Taj Mahal are all much more impressive than Chac Mol. :D

You might also consider a Cavern Class, which is two days of the best dive training you'll ever get.
