I think we as Americans and Canadians should go down there and demand they change the way they do things. (not)

Now we are coming for good in January with 3 people and lots of luggage. 6 large suitcases + 6 carry-ons of which 2 are our dogs in their soft crates. Hopefully we are the only ones as it is the Air Canada flight coming in Saturday night. We will be first off the plane as we are in Rows 1 & 3 (first class) but I assume we won't be first out of the terminal as we have to have the dogs checked out. I just hope the vans are still there.

Anyone out there have a large van or SUV that could pick us up for a good price?
If you're coming for good, why not rent a vehicle for a bit? Surely you'll want your own transport for the first few days living there, running errands and such?

Very funny Mike. I didn't want to wait and fly economy a week later and hubby used AMEX points. Plus it is only one way. LOL
Betty

It's all good. But if I'm on that flight, I'm going to crop dust all you guys in first class on my way back to my wooden apple box seat in the back of the plane. :D

I believe you will find that the vans pay to haul people out of the airport. Cancun airport used to be that way. It cost about $50 per person to get out of there. We walked out a number of times far enough that the security people couldn't see the taxi drivers picking us up and then the cost was $20 for the taxi full. Now Cancun is more reasonable to get out of.

On Trip Advisor a person reported going to the traffic circle today where they got a taxi. No police.

Easy Peasy.

Then on top of all that...they squeezed in another person in the back row with us. I was like "Hey wait a minute. I paid for 3 seats so I should get 3 seats".
Yeah, if I had to pay for 3 seats to get all of the bags on, it'd take a cop to get a third person in my row.

Their country, their call on most things. How they treat us visitors and migrating sharks - different

Yeah, but probably not a rental big enough to carry all of those bags.

What?! "$50 per person to get out of there"

Yeah, I think the cops intervening would be now and then for show. There is always a few walkers but very few.

Thank goodness the Mexican police have finally found gainful employment addressing Mexico's most pressing problems!

Mossman: Don is right. Renting a car would not be big enough plus it looks like these places may be closed that late on a Saturday night.

I think we'll be okay with the "3 bags per person limit" but they may hassle us for more money because of the 2 dogs.
