I think it's great when manufacturers create or modify their products so that they can be used more efficiently by women......but.....

What posseses them to manufacture these items in friggin baby pastel colors, or plaster the item with the word "Lady____" Like Lady Diver, or Lady Sport... aaggh.

A few years ago, some company came out with a line of gardening tools called something like "Lady Gardener".
Yeah - I want to be outside chopping wood with my pink "lady axe", or mowing the lawn with my baby blue "lady lawnmower" (with a little bow/ rosebud on front).

Of course that's after I get out my magenta 3pc "lady toolbox" (c'mon silly - why would we need more tools than a 1oz hammer, a screwdriver and a nail file?) and assemble my lavender "lady barbecue". gag...

What is sad, is that many of the products that were made for women could really be useful for many people of smaller stature, regardless of their gender.

Essroc,
I only know 1 female diver who i look up to as a role model. You being a man may not understand how it is to be a 13 yr old girl in a dive class with all men. Magazines need to advertise to women as much as they do to men! I want to be a "jacquelene Coustea", but it is very hard when I read things and see posts that undermine women. I am a young teenager and I love diving more then anything. I need magazines to have more issues that face women, i need more women divers to look up to! It may not be an issue for you considereing you are a man and your "were/are" surrounded by things for men and people to look up to, but for girls it is way harder.

You should check out http://www.womenunderwater.com/ and the Women Divers Hall of Fame at http://www.wdhof.org/
Niether are really extensive web sites but they're working on it.
Why would you need a Jacquelene Coustea? Can't you look up to Jaques just as well knowing that you're capable of great things too?

My opinion on the whole thing....Words have the meaning that you give them. I don't take offense to much unless it was specifically directed at me, not as a woman or a diver but me, personally.
Women get pi$$ed at the articles about women divers but if there weren't any at all, you'd be just as upset. It's no win situation and not worth getting upset about if you ask me. I know who I am and I don't need a magazine article to support it.

BTW, Airbrushing your butt was one of the funniest things I've seen in a LONG time! I think the PADI c-card should have your airbrushed butt instead of a mug shot! Tastefully done, of course. :11ztongue

Hello young diva, welcome to womanhood! dismissing men feels very good  (lol) but it's not the answer.

This is just one of many topics that women are faced with everyday. Learn to focus, your "views" to the subject at hand and do not allow certain points of view get in the way.

For example; the Magazine mentioned, I'm sure would love to hear how a 13 year old female diver is affected by this article. Speak to your parents and voice your opinion and direct it where it would make the most impact. I'm sure most here will back you up!

If you're PADI, they'll do it for an additional $20

thanks sorry if i pissed any1 off but i was just SO mad. guys just dont understand! oo well life goes on...lol

don't worry about pissing people off for speaking your mind.

always state your ideas. if someone gets mad, that's their problem

saltwater taffy:
:Excuse me, I have to go air brush my butt.

SWT

I am still laughing over this, BUT (no pun intended), I mentioned it to a friend today who said, swearing she was NOT making it up, tanning salons where you can get a spray-on tan will airbrush a set of abs for you!

She said it's a bit of trompe l'oeil and obviously it "works" better for some than others...so we CAN get our butts airbrushed!!!

H2Andy hit the nail on the head. There is, or at least there should be, no shame in speaking your mind. I have a 14 yr. old daughter, an 11 month old daughter and a wife, and believe me, I may be a man, but I know how hard it is for women to be women now-a-days. On the flip side, being a man is not that simple either. Take it from me, I have three women to please on a daily basis. That can get really tricky sometimes. Sure scuba magazines tend to address men issues more than women issues, but that doesn't mean that women issues are any less important, just not addressed as much.
