I just don't log dives
I'm going to Florida for two weeks in July to dive and do a course with Chipola Divers up in Marianna. Suggestions for accomodation anyone? I'm traveling alone.

Where all will you be diving? Only in the Mariana area or...

Some, I guess. Anyway, it seems like an ok base for several dive sites. Guess I'll rent a car if i need one.

Edd Sorenson at Cave Adventurers on the Mill Pond, in Marianna, rents out a few places that would have everything you need. There is also the Hole in the Wall House if you want to do it up right, Hole in the Wall House - Home Page , pardon the music - LOL.

Course, there's also hotels in the area to fit any budget, even my meager budget :p Dirt cheap and no frills for $30 a night at the Executive Inn. If you want something nice, look into the Fairfield Inn for a bit more(I think over $100 a night).

Thanks, I'll send Edd an email. :) Checked out the Hole in the Wall House, but didn't know he had other alternatives as well.

The trailer Ed rents is close to his shop and works out pretty well. If you want a more traditional hotel, the Quality Inn right by the interstate has one of the best prices I have found. Depending upon the type of discounts you can get them to give, you can get it for $65 plus a night. They also provide a little breakfast in the morning.

Like Bugman said, the Executive Inn is about the cheapest....but it is just one step above sleeping in your car!

Hehe, I lived in a 2x5 meter trailer for two weeks when I did my IDC. -10 degrees C, lots of snow, and lots of leaks once we turned the heat on. I'd do it again! :D

Quality Inn looks nice. $69 + 11,5% when booking online... You think I could get it cheaper by calling them?

I have a list of almost all the Marianna hotels on my website-left side menu. Tallahassee is the closest airport and there might be shuttles to Marianna. I can pick you up and drop you off each day. Most of the restaurants are around the highway 90/interstate 10 hotels-walking distance.

That's very kind of you! :) Oslo-Philiadelphia-Charlotte-Tallahassee is the most likely route, and if the prices are ok, I'll probably just rent a car at the airport.

If I recall correctly, you mentioned the Ramada as a good budget alternative. Checked their online booking system to get a price, but it wouldn't let me book for 2010. Sent an email to Edd asking about his accomodation alternatives too.

I've stayed in the trailer behind Edd's and it's quite comfortable. It has a washer/dryer, too. I remember it being very inexpensive, but we split it three ways.
