Anybody been to Abyss Dive center in Marathon lately? I am planning to go down to the keys for a few days and want to go diving. Thanks

Jimmy

Not lately, but I was there a couple of years ago. Even though the boat broke down after our first dive, I was very happy with them.

I dove with them early December because they were the ONLY boat in town willing to go out a day where it was 30kts, gusting to 37kts at Sombrero tower that morning.

By the afternoon things had calmed down, seas were only 6', and viz was about 60'!

They had just a Captain, no mate or DM, so things got a bit hairy when all divers were geared up and there was a bit of a problem with the anchor. The Captain ended up having to run back and forth between foc'sl and helm multiple times. When we finally went diving, we saw that the anchor had drifted onto the outer ledge of the reef. Anchoring for the second dive went smoothly.

Abyss took us out the to reef, and brought the same number back. What more do you want?
