Hi guys, I'm new to diving and I plan to buy a regulator soon, so I want to know which one will be the best choice for me (the new diver). Here is my choices is a Scubapro X650/MK25, Atomic B2,and Mares Proton 42. Thanks for your helps :D

Unfortunately I won't choose any of the above.

The X650 is a discontinued model n parts will be an issue later. The Atomic are notoriously expensive to service. The Mares... ehhhh never mind.

Now do you dive warm or cold n where are you from? Getting servicing n parts are very important n where you are at helps.

I would suggest almost any current 1st and 2nd stage will work fine for a new diver unless you are planning <45F dives or some other extreme conditions. The choice of octo (type and rigging), gauges (spg / console) and service/parts as SangP mentioned are more interesting and will have more of an impact on you.

Regulators have gotten so good over the years that most divers will say they really like the one the own. I have a been using a very similar Mares for four years, and I like it a lot, particularly the metal second stage. It retains moisture from your breath to reduce "dry mouth and throat".

Oceanic is a brand you did not list. They make a great low cost regulator called the Alpha 8. It compares to units costing twice the price.

Welcome to diving.

I wouldn't be too concerned about Scubapro parts availability. Of all the companies out there, Scubapro services its discontinued models much better than anybody else. Servicing a 25 year old regulator isn't an issue with Scubapro.

All three brands and models are reliable, good regulators. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Depends what you're looking for. The ScubaPro's are not recommended for cold water and WILL freeflow. Any of the Sherwoods are solid, bulletproof regs. Maybe not the highest flow but a number of buddies dive them regularly to below 200ft with no problems. The Aqualungs are very good performers with the Titan and Titan LX being stand-outs at a lesser cost than the Legend's. Apeks also makes a great line. I've heard good things about the Edge/Hog lines as well and they are at a very attractive price point.

I'm diving in Thailand, so the cold water is not my problem :D Thanks for every helps and recommends

All modern regulators sold today will meet the needs of a new diver. We at leisure Pro have a large selection of regulators. Please visit our website at leisurepro.com. Just type in the search window regulators and you will find one of the largest selections available at one site. Once you have looked some over feel free to contact me and ask questions. I will be more than happy to assist you.

Check out the HOG D1. Solid reg w/ good breathing at 150fsw. I really haven't noticed much of a difference between these and my Apeks other then the 2nd stage is heavier. But for the price it is the best bang for the Buck and Dive Right In Scuba has them for an excellent price.

If you do not need the reg to work in cold waters then the Atomic B2 would work as well as Scubapro MK25 but would change the 2nd stage to either the G250V or S600. Never dove with a Mares Reg so not sure. But also if your not looking to spend a fourtune I would look into the HOG line or regulators they are great breathers and a fraction of the cost.
