Jenny, I'm not sure what part of the rules you're objecting to, but I think you'll find that those are also Venice city ordinances for all Venice public beaches including Alhambra.

No objections, just pointing out the rules. I don't *think* Alhambra is a city park, though I may be wrong.
Whatever ya'll decide is fine with me, I am not the one organizing it. :) But, will bring a 12 lb turkey for the frying and probably some other stuff.

Where is that exactly? I hear discussion of it being north of Sharky's, but when I map quest the address it comes out quite a ways south of Sharky's.

South Brohard beach is about 1/2 mile south of Sharkey's, just past the paw park on Harbor Dr. South

Unless something unexpected happens, I'll be attending. #1 dive buddy (wife) is working so I'll be solo/pickup buddy & bringing my yak. Also Pasta Salad!

Always happy to help Walter.

Ok 15lb thawed turkey is a done deal

As for moving this event I have a few questions ???????

1-Will the fact that we will most likely fill their parking lot by ourselves or with the locals that show up be an issue? Will there be street parking allowed ? Is there a limited amount of space ?

2- Since we will most likely be a group of 100 or more and takeover their beach with tents/tables and diving gear everywhere and are (scubaboard) are any permits required ? Since we have a sponor and are promoting Scubaboard it may not be simple.

3- Like most people we have never been to this location and with Walter asking WHERE THIS IS ????? Turn by turn directions need to be posted so everyone can find the event.

4- Most important IMO is will everyone find teeth like at the old site ?
After all thats why most folks attend this event.

Remember the site we have used for MANY YEARS has just as many good points(NO Rules except blocking driveways) as bad points (Long way to bathrooms, Parking with long walk). However before we find out the new site has issues we cannot live with, someone need to make sure all the bases have been covered.
To have a last minute snag or be told we cannot use this site would be a real disaster. Also having people diving all day and finding no teeth/fossils would diminish this event.
Thats my 2 cents

GO RAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My only concern with the other sites would be if they allow large vats of boiling oil over open flame on the beach. Nobody bothers us at Alhambra.

Will we be able to use the turkey friers on the beach?

I can only address two of the points questioned previously. First, the parking area will hold at least 50 vehicles, so that shouldn't be a problem. Secondly, there are teeth to be found. Not as easily as at Alhambra, but they are there. There is also a nice artificial reef to dive along with a couple of patch reefs which have all be holding an abundance of fish and stone crabs. If the only reason this event has been held previously at Alhambra was because of the abundance of teeth and lack of teeth will ruin the event....then dive Alhambra. Personally, I have a bucket of teeth, and I'm not all that interested in collecting more.

OH! Kris and I have dove this location. We found both Megs and that Mastadon Tibia along with a lot of other stuff right at the reef line! GREAT SPOT! The reef is nice to :)
