You can earn a Master Diver certification while in the Bahamas

Who: Open Water Divers with 10+ logged dives
When: Sept 15-22, 2007
Where: Lucaya Bahamas, Under Water Explorers Society (UNEXSO)
Training in:
  • Rescue
  • Deep diving (up to 130 fsw) - proper planning as well as completion of deeper dives
  • Underwater navigation - compass and natural navigation techniques with pinpoint accuracy
  • Nitrox diving - using gas mixtures containing up to 40% oxygen for no decompression dives
  • Night diving
  • Advanced Buoyancy Clinic - requiring a demonstration and mastery of both buoyancy and trim control
This year’s MDU program will offer certifications (for those who qualify) and high quality course materials from SCUBA Schools International (SSI). As always, the program will focus on proficiency in buoyancy skills, underwater navigation, deep diving, rescue diving. Divers will have the opportunity to complete 5 specialty courses (including some electives), Rescue, Advanced Open Water and Master Diver Certifications. We have custom boat and dive schedules that will allow extra skill development time and time for remedial training to ensure proficiency in every skill. This course is open to Open Water Divers with at least 10-logged dives.

Michael Ange
Author, magazine columnist and noted diving safety expert Michael Ange will be the lead instructor. Mike has written 6 diving textbooks in use by various training agencies, well over 100 magazine articles and the popular book Diver Down, Real world SCUBA accidents and how to avoid them. He is the author of SCUBA Diving Magazine’s “Lessons For Life” and “Ask an Instructor” columns.

UNEXSO
The MDU will be hosted in the Bahamas this year by The Under Water Explorers Society (UNEXSO). UNEXSO in Lucaya on Grand Bahama Island is one of diving’s historic pioneering facilities and we are looking forward to diving with them again as well as enjoying the atmosphere offered by Port Lucaya and the Bahamian Islands.

I attended the last 2 MDUs; in 2005 as an OW student, then 2006 as a DiveCon candidate working with the class.

While I was a great diver before these, it did help me improve...

Seriously, this is a great way for any OW or Advanced Diver to significantly improve their skills. You will be amazed at how much your diving skills will have improved by at the end of the week. Just understand you must EARN your certifications. Mike takes rescue extremely serious, you will probably be sore that night. That said, Mike and team will work with you, we spent hours in the water with folks working on Underwater Navigation.
