What argument?
Dave Shaw should never be used as an example of a good diver doing a good thing. It was a relatively new diver (most of his dives were in courses) undertaking a stupid macho thing rather than try to see if the body would come up (remember he had connected a reel to the body and to the down line). In the end, this is what brought up not only the body, but his own.

He was the first CCR diver who went to 270m and came back alive!!! How many experienced CCR or OC divers had done that before?Dave Shaw should never be used as an example of a good diver doing a good thing. You told me I did not help my argument
So either put up or shut up because right now I think you're just trolling.
Why do you have to bring the next of kin into a public forum? And of course the case breaks down even further once you look at exploratory cave diving, which in many cases, even if one attempts to mitigate all known risk, by its very nature has an very real potential for negative outcomes. At that point one has to ask why and whether the rewards out weigh the risk. For some it does, for others it doesn't. Ask Dave Shaws wife if she really really thinks it was worth it......
