Bob- for light duty summer diving you'll be fine. I dove for years with a regular $199 no frills jobbie, and they are warm enough to get the job done.
The more expensive wetsuits will give you a bit more thermal protection, and will be worth saving a bit longer for if you plan on diving deep, deep in quarries or at the fringes of the season. You also get better range of motion and comfort form the nicer suits.
