John if you are “right” then all of these big corporate hotels and thousands of tour operators and well established accountants must be wrong and violating the law. Again, what do I know? I just ran an SA de CV for almost 20 years with my tax listed separately - guess I just didn’t get caught nor did the others who have been doing it this way for decades

I think that it is worth noting that the website they are quoting is not a government website.

Exactly!! That's why I don't buy into, "tax has to be included in the price" for everything. I was using websites only as my examples, but even when in Mexico and looking at posted prices on display boards, some businesses show prices in pesos (the Coz airport shuttle price board), some in U.S. (dive shops), and some do show both pesos & U.S.

That's why when a statement is made, such as was the case in another thread (and in this thread), that "Tax is included in price", it isn't necessarily helpful to the SB member looking for good info. If that was the last post of a thread and the SB reader took that statement as gospel, then they could be in for a surprise, as was the case with the OP who complained about getting hit with the tax when he received his final diving bill.

I do know when I go to Coz later this year, I'll be paying more attention to posted prices and asking more questions!!!

I learned long ago to watch for taxes and if they're not mentioned as included or to be added - and they do vary, just ask. Too easy?

Also this:

Hotels and resort websites show their prices in U.S. dollars. even changing the text to Spanish, the price is still in U.S. dollars, not pesos, and does not include tax, although if you book it, the tax will be added in.

Not sure if it's totally applicable or not, but a lot of travel websites like airlines quote the currency either based on your IP address or which version of the website you use. For instance, if I go onto Delta's website I can choose to use the US version or change it to Canada and then the prices are quoted in Canadian dollars. Changing the text to Spanish wouldn't do anything regarding changing the currency.

Not sure what the link completely does - just know there are the little hot links like "EN" and "ES" usually near the top of a websites page that you can click on to change it from one language to another.
