Howdy folks,

I just wanted to go on record saying that DRIS absolutely rocks! Here's why:

I bought the early 500L version and had some problems with it, specifically I could never get it to work with replacement batteries. In prepping for an upcoming AOW class I was going through the light collection and remembered my issues with the 500. Hit the DRIS site and filled out their contact form, and had a response from Mike within the hour. Shipped the 500 back and was told they'd send me a replacement when it showed up. So today the replacement came, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was the new 1000L version. Certainly not what I was expecting, but that's what I call customer service!

Thanks guys, you've definitely made a regular customer here and I'm already recommending you to my students for this AOW class. Great light, great price, and truly excellent service after the sale...what's not to like? :cheerleader:

OK so I took my light for it`s 2nd and 3rd dives today and it flooded. I am not to happy about that. I took it apart and it seems to have dried out and still seems to work but I am slightly hopeful for my next dive. Fingers crossed.

I don't know how many times i've told you this... but you can't change the batteries underwater......

Have you previously pulled the light head apart? Did you check the tightness of the light head at the glass area?

The front ring near the glass area was loose when I got mine.

My other dive light flooded (user error) when I first got it. Assuming fresh water, a "rice bath" ( heat rice in the oven at 350 to activate it and then put the light and the rice in a sealed container) can do a really good job of absorbing any remaining mositure.

Fresh water generally won't do horrible damage to unenergized circuits. Remove the moisture then power on and you should be good to go.

No I had never had the unit apart. I did not check things for tightness (right or wrong I never thought it necessary on a brand new light - I now see that I should have which does make sense). It still works.....I am guessing it will work underwater and not leak. If it still works under water then no harm no foul.

I appreciate the offer Mike. I'll do everything I can to make this one work though. Maybe someone will learn from my experience: don't change batteries underwater ;)
