I am very happy with both my 500's and my 1000. I can't wait to use them again!

Somthing here doesn't add up to me. It's as if there are two different 1000 lumen lights running around. The bodies seem different in pictures and one person says he says almost no different between it and his 500 and another person says the 1000 is much brighter.

I saw one person say that his 1000 head has 3 orings but mine only has 2.

I was wondering about that too. They may be counting the lense o ring in addition to the 2 where the head attaches to the body.

Here are my pics:

Sorry the pic doesn't show the "1000" side. You'll have to trust me. I've also included pics of the "important" part.

Well the light test was a no go. Both lights are out of the range of the light. I will say that on an open wall the difference is hard to tell, but if your in a narrow hall you can really see the difference. A few pic's

I hope it works for Scuba Divers......and I personally feel Divers should dive with communication torch not just torch.

Really? I am glad you also have a new product you are trying to push, but I do not know anybody who likes tank bangers/noise makers underwater. If you have a good dive buddy all you have to do is make a small circle with your torch to tell your buddy "hey look at this cool thing", no noise needed.

But then again, with only 175 lumen I guess you would need to make noise.

Sorry for the short/weak rant, but I hate noise makers.

Showing difference in bodies

My 1000 only has (and has room for) 2 orings there not 3. There are two more o-rings flanking the lens.

Clearly there are two different "1000" models out there and I'm really starting to think the differences are more then superficial.

It seems that these lights may be "evolving". There is the original 500, then the little bit longer 500, the 1000 that is the same length as the 2nd 500, and the larger 3 oring 1000. It is beginning to look like they found a manufacturer of light housings that had several unused (or trial runs or other other explainable reason)of relatively small batches of similar, but slightly different light housings for which they have used two different bulbs to create salable products. Some may gripe about the differences (and yes # of orings and size variance may be signficant to some), but still these (at least in my experience with the 500s) appear to be great lights and a great price. I'd be curious to hear DRIS comments on the differences. I am surprised that they have been mute regarding this discussion when very active with this thread earlier. Regardless, I'm happy with my purchase.
