Reverberating Noise When Breathing In on Aqualung Kronos

Honestly, I have no idea. The shop didn't either. I've kind of tuned it out at this point, though occasionally it starts to bother me. Maybe I should see if it still does it at different angles, i.e. upside down or exhaust side up...

Reverberating Noise When Breathing In on Aqualung Kronos

I also have the regular Kronos, and it makes the same noise. It's been apart for servicing, and nothing seems wrong. I've been diving on it for 2 years now, and had it down to around 90' or so, and it's always breathed fine.

    Dry Mouth

I definitely second Capri Suns. I get some weird looks on the dive boat when stuffing one or two into a pocket, and even better looks when I'm drinking one at my safety stop. But it does the trick.

Alternatives to Hathaways Pond on Cape?

Other than Hathaways, has anyone done much diving in other fresh water sites on Cape? Anything interesting? Sites to avoid? I've been looking at the Mass DFW site, and it has some good bathymetric information, but is obviously focused on fishermen. I'm just trying to find some interesting...

    Diving with a Pony

I always sling a 40cf bottle, whether I'm solo or buddy diving. It's sometimes a pain in the ass on the boat or especially long walks to the water whilst shore diving, but underwater I don't even notice it, and the extra layer of redundancy is a bit comforting. I also don't ever plan on running...

Shore Dive Sites on Cape Cod

Give Hathaway's Pond in Barnstable a try. Off the main beach there is a sunken car and tractor. By the little area on the right is a skills platform with a statue (I think of the virgin Mary). Straight out from the main beach, almost to the other side of the pond, is a 30 foot boat in 25' that...

Funny things heard on the dive boat

The first time I went out on a dive boat, the DM gave a great briefing. Basically it boiled down to "Follow me if you want, but if you come up to me and flash 500 psi, I'm going to shrug and point up." And "Underwater rescues are $500, body recoveries are $1000."

    Aeris Elite T3 Problems

Thanks ST. I turned it on today, and it reads that it is on surface mode. So I'm going to dive it again this weekend to make sure one way or the other.

    Aeris Elite T3 Problems

Today I went out to test my new pony tank. At the end of the dive I moved into shallow water and purged both tanks down to around 500 psi to check buoyancy. Now the Elite T3, which is using a wireless transmitter to ONLY my main HP100 tank, is giving me all sorts of problems. This has only...

Where did you solo dive today?

Did my first "real" dive of the season today at Hathaway's Pond. (Did a quick one a month or so ago to clear props.) Deepest depth was around 36 feet, and I stayed around 28 for a bit. Water temps were hovering around 46 F at the bottom, and air temp was in the low 50's. Vis was GREAT at around...

    Mass. dive op recommendations

I second Cape Dive Locker. They start their charter boat season next month (May). They also do Sunday shore dives in either Hathaway's Pond, Garbage Beach in Woods Hole, and Sandwhich Town Beach.

Excellent Summary on all the MMC Changes

I just hope they will let you receive a full size, wall-mountable license, even if you have to pay extra. I'm just glad I got one before this change.

    New to this forum

New as well. Hi everyone. I have a 100-ton Inland/OUPV Near Coastal. Currently I'm the mate on a 60' research vessel for the the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

    Sea Elite Ebs System?

It was a lot more comfortable stripped down. The main problem was the shoulder pads had really hard/sharpish edges. I haven't used anything else so far, but I probably am going to replace the harness in the near future. So the only "stock" piece I'm still using is really just the backplate. :|...

    Cold water diving

28 degrees F in a farmer john 7mm. 15 minutes, and I did not fill my suit with hot water because the deck house had burst. I was ok until I got back on the boat (I was checking the props & hull), the water was about 15 degrees warmer than the air with the wind chill that day.

    Sea Elite Ebs System?

I the complete system last summer when I started diving. By the end of Fall I had replaced the wing with a smaller 30. I found the shoulder supports to be somewhat uncomfortable, even in a 2 piece 7mm so I stripped those and most all of the other supports (including the backplate padding) off...

my first very cold water dive

Congrats. I just did my first as well a few weeks ago. 28 degrees F for just over 15 minutes in a two piece 7mm. Only problems I had was that my power inflater froze up before I jumped in.

    Kind'a Bummed Out.............

I feel for you. I was going to do a quick dive New Year's Day, but the 25 degrees plus 30-35 knot winds gusting over 40 kinda sucks. Maybe I SHOULD invest in a drysuit. :p

    Sea Elite backplate

I have one that I bought from DiversSupply (SeaElite EBS SS). I've had no issues with it. I use an Oxycheq Mach V 30lb wing on it. I also use a STA, even though it has cam band slots (for weight and holds tank tighter). Great deal on EBS STAINLESS BACK PLATE from Divers-Supply.com

The most banal topic: DIVER'S HEADACHE

Something that worked for me was loosening my mask. I initially had the straps way too tight. It also doesn't leak very often, so I was only clearing it if it really started to hurt. After I loosened the straps up, and clearing it even when it doesn't need it, my headaches went away. Your...
