Anyone doing sidemount entries this way? I will have two aluminum 80s. Anything to watch for for? (I have this fear of ending up hanging by my hoses and being beaten in the face by the bottles while a squid pulls my mask off...):scared:
All instructions for stage bottle rigging stress isolating the stainless steel hose clamp from the bottle with webbing, inner tube, electrical tape, etc.
No one I have seen insulates their doubles from the stainless steel bands.
Urban myth?
I have been putting boots on my tanks when dropping them off for filling. My thought is that it is rude to leave them rolling around on the floor and forcing the operator to do a yoga move to hook up the whip.
What does everyone else do?
(it is a hassle to remove and replace and remove...
If I take Cave 1, I can take the course in doubles.
My certification to use doubles expires in one year.
After that I can still enter caves on the main line but only with a single and an H Valve.
Did I miss anything? Going into a cave with one tank regardless of the H valve scares me. Can I...
I always have a hard time pulling the SMS 100 bungie around the valve and clipping it off. I just spotted the "old school system" on Edd's website.
Not being old school myself...
Is the "loop" clipped off to the shoulder D ring in front and then one "side" of the loop pulled over the valve...
I have some Thermo valves which have dip tubes with hex fittings for easy removal. Spare tubes are available in two different thread forms.
I also have a Dive Rite valve. On the Dive Rite I scratched the dip tube with vice grips. I am doing a valve shuffle between tanks to accommodate my...
Scene 1: I scratch my Faber tank on some rocks and expose the galvanized base coat. Call Faber and they say to use Rustoleum White Gloss Spray Paint. OK, I do that.
Scene 2: A couple of weeks later the touch up pretty much falls off.
Scene 3: I acquire a couple more scrapes and one of them...
I have never done any diving in the Gulf. I will be diving the Oriskany wet next weekend. Single tank. No planned deco. I have a choice of.... 7 mil Farmer John or 2.5 mil shorty or mix and match. Or (worst choice) buy new gear.
Any thoughts?
Any jellyfish herds?
If your chiropractor "cracks" your neck/back the expanding gas will create microbubbles and bubble nuclei. A subsequent dive would expand the quantity and size of the bubbles.
Does anyone know how long the microbubbles and nuclei continue to be a threat?
I imagine the same concern would...
Help me to stop exercising. The way I see it..... The more you work out, the more muscles you have, the more air you need to fuel the muscles. Where's the flaw? (I need to watch more TV...)
I was just told that it prevented penetration of US, German and Italian WWII military vessels in US waters. I did a bit of research and found wording that makes it illegal to "disturb" such a wreck. I'm not sure that swimming through would constitute "disturbing".
I did find a US Coast Guard...
One of the folks at my office just accidently opened the valve on one of my cylinders in the storage room, panicked and let it empty itself. My daughter heard the noise and went to investigate and found the room "full of fog" with the perp standing next to the cylinder and still talking on her...
Any clever ideas to make the reel lockdown screw captive?
I have thought of peening the threads, safety wire, spring clip, tapping a hole to store a spare screw. Any better ideas?
My normal wetsuit (FJ 7 mil) compresses enough below about 80' that I cannot swim up without leaving something heavy behind on an empty (simulated failed) wing. That is tested with just enough weight to ensure descent and a safety stop with an empty wing.
My thoughts on redundant lift:
A)...
