I have only been diving a little over 3 years, but I have been in the gulf a lot. The water this weekend was very greenish. I have never seen it like that. The vis wasnt terrible, but all the green tinge made the viz seem bad.
Any explanations?
I am having trouble finding some basic info on diving the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary and Artificial Reef. Someone said they think it opened for divers on Oct 1, 2012
Does anyone know:
How deep it is is?
How far off shore it is?
Do you dive it with the tides>
Is there ample parking?
Is...
Hurricane Isaac made land fall in NOLA on Wed. morning. How will that effect diving this weekend in Gulf Shores, Al. and the panhandle?
Would it be too churned up to dive a few days later?
Thanks
The state park site makes it sound like there is shore diving at Sebastin Inlet. Or do you need a boat?
Are there any shore dives in the area?
Thank you,
I think there must be some type of correlation with winds and wave heights, but i dont really understand how wind relates to wave , etc etc etc.
What are the maxium wind/wave activity for a fun dive.
I just posted a similar but more specific (but not as techincal) question in the...
We arrived in Key Largo on Monday late morning. We drove around and talked to afew dive ops and all told us that the winds/waves were getting worse (14-16knots) and were reccomending waiting. Most said the diving would be much better towards the end of the week.
Well here we are on Tues...
John U. Lloyd Beach State Park describes their scuba like this
"For those interested in the underwater beauty of South Florida, Lloyd Beach has one of the easiest and interesting shore dives in the area. You can follow the submerged Eurojacks to the first reef. This allows snorkelers and divers...
I did a search on Scuba Board to see what I could find out about San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve State Park, but got zero results.
It is located between key largo and key west.
I know that is only in 18 ft water but the state park site makes it sound interesting. It sounds...
We will be in the Keys for only a few days. I want to Dive Molasses reef. I tried to call and make reservations, but was told that a charter cant guarentee where they can go that day.
How do I ensure that we get to see Molasses Reef?
Thanks,
We are planning a trip to Key Largo. I have heard the charter out of Pennekamp state park is much preferred over private dive charters.
Is that true? If so why?
Thanks
We will have a few hours free while we attend a seminar at Pt. Clear's Grand Hotel near Fairhope.
We were thinking about diving the Alabama point jetties,or myabe the Whiskey Wreck at Gulf Shores. but this might be pushing the time frame
Any closer opportunites?
Has anyone dived off the...
I am seeing conflicting reports on whether we can dive the jetties in Orange Beach/Peridido Pass. I understand there is some type of private property issue.
Can we not park at the free parkling lot and go in under the bridge?
We have never dove there, but 2 years ago we did stop and survey...
"bump key' was mentioned in a different thread. I think it has something to do with cave diving.
(1) What is a bump key?
Also personally wondering...
(2) I have heard underage kids can get pretty realistic "fake" driver's license for $10.00. Do you think it is possible that...
We had the pleasure of seeing two sharks at Panama City Beach's bridgespan #12 on Sat afternoon.
There were 10 of us on the dive. I don't think anyone was scared. The two sharks just swam around the bridgespan oblivious to the fact we were there.
No one was sure what kind of sharks...
I almost cancelled my dive today….sure glad I didn’t.
Thursday evening I started experiencing some sinus issues. Late Friday night as we drove to Panama City Beach, it started getting worse….runny, itchy cough, green mucus with tinges of blood, head congestion and chest...
We camped at Vortex and got tanks at 7AM, drove 15 minutes to Morrions Springs and was in the water before 9AM. It was very clear....not much fish or anything else to see, but the first dive was very clear.
Since its not very deep, we used less than a 1/2 tank in 45 minutes, so we did a...
I know we can pay $10.00 each and ride a boat to the headspring (preserve???) but the idea of canoeing up and drifting down the rainbow river sounds fun
