On Rainbow River you can rent a canoe at KP Hole. Paddle up to the preserve, stick a dive flag up in the canoe and tow it back while drift diving. We did this a couple years ago and had a ball. We had some parachute line with us and it's light, but also strong. I bet it looked odd from the shore!

I know we can pay $10.00 each and ride a boat to the headspring (preserve???) but the idea of canoeing up and drifting down the rainbow river sounds fun

Anyone with experience or thoughts on this?

My inlaws live close to the headspring. I've drifted from the headspring down to kp hole a couple of times. It's a nice river, rent a canoe or kayak.

Thanks,
I have since read that some folks swim up the Rainbow River????

Rainbow River is very low current, easy to swim against it. Great visibility. Lots to see!

thought I would give an update. We did this last summer. There were 6 in our party. We rented 2 canoes and paddled upstream. Then we towed the canoes as we came back to the park. Easy and fun!

We all snorkeled as 2 in our party were not OW. I dont think there would be much advantage to having tanks on this trip.
