If you put the new iPhone 14 in this case you have
1. A dive computer
2. An underwater camera
3. A device capable of sending a satellite SOS even when not in Cell phone coverage range

Combine it with the new iWatch ultra and you have a backup computer

Pretty amazing

I don’t want to be disrespectful of Oceanic, but what on earth is the use of putting a $1000 phone inside a $400 case just so you can pay $10/month to have a bulky and suboptimal solution to a $300 puck computer and a gopro?

Well, if you are upgrading from one iPhone to another, there is a pretty good trade in value, so that maybe the iPhone 14 is only $500. The camera on the iPhone is also much better than that on a GoPro. A puck computer and GoPro has no satellite signaling, so then you are also buying a PLB for $300 and a waterproof case for the PLB for another $100.

Honestly I pay subscriptions for all sorts of software so I have a hard time getting stressed about it. It’s really becoming the new noral
Congrats - you are exactly the "conditioned" consumer that these companies hoped to create when they went to the subscription model to get guaranteed income streams...

The iPhone 14 is NOT a PLB - it just has limited satellite messaging capability (and only in NA)!

Better than a puck and GoPro.

Not necessarily... in many areas, it's useless. My intended point is that while it might be useful in limited situations, it is in no way a substitute for a proper PLB.

There are plans to roll out more countries. It’s more like Garmin inreach lite now. My Apple Watch will be upgraded to watchOS 9 soon, and that has a whole bunch of new fitness features that may allow me to avoid upgrading my fitness watch as Watch OS will have caught up in a year or two.
