Well, where I am from we are known for the best pecan pies and chicken fried steaks....how would those rate?

I think the captain will let you drive the boat while he enjoys the treats. {bring enough to share with everyone!}

@Johnoly knows of which he speaks. He is the master of food bribes!
And even better when he makes the stuff!!!

Well....I have a plan....

I plan on making six dives with a local dive charter over about nine days. I will start by solo diving at Blue Heron to make final adjustments to my rigging and weights. I have not done any diving in salt water in awhile. Wish me luck, my friends...

Set up near Stuart yesterday...really nice campgrounds the US Army Corps of Engineers has here.
Went to Blue Heron bridge and got wet. Was a little light on weight so I took the weight off of my flag and stuck in my pocket. Later I look back at the flag and it is upside down in the water. At least the fish know there is a diver nearby. My float is an inner tube type so I found a rock that set back just right.

Saw lots of sea horses and reef fish. The man that agreed shore side to buddy up had a nice camera rig and was able to get some really nice photos. Saw some yellow stingrays and all sorts of reef fish.

Dropped by Pure Vida dive shop to get a feel for the place. Will go out diving with them tomorrow, have a total of six dives scheduled with them.

Enjoying myself so far.
Dropped by the store to grab some red snapper to put on the grill. Holy smokes, I couldn't believe the price they were selling them at.

Fresh local caught fish from a reputable market isn’t cheap. Here in SWFL it typically runs $22-$29 a pound for fillets depending upon the species.

That's why it's good to have spearo's on the dive boat. They usually will share if nice. PV will allow you to hunt Lionfish (only) on the boat and you don't need a fishing license. It's better than red snapper on the grill, IMO.
Welcome to Florida,,,I know that camping spot. It's fun watching the locks open & close for boats.

Well we made it home safe.
Did six trips with PV, they run a good operation.
Only got rained out on Saturday, June 4th but was able to book another dive later in the week.

Saw lots of turtles, reef fish, sharks, morays, octopi and other marine life. On about every other trip divers were having issues with their regulators, not the rental ones. Every time PV would get it operational.

Diver don't seem to understand the significance of the dive briefing. Too many divers showing their SPG to the guide, asking if they should surface. This was after folks were told repeated to come up when you have about 900-1000 left in your tank and have 500 left when you get back in the boat.

Guides were all first class and very helpful and patient. No injuries occurred on any of the dives I was on.

I think next time I will go to the Keys....

Betweeen WPB & Jupiter, there are about 18 different dive boats. Each of them does different types of dives and they each cater to different levels of experience. There are WPB/JUP boats that won't let you dive with an aluminum 80 tank for example and others that unless you have an AOW + EAN card, you won't get manifested. That doesn't mean a boat is worse or better, it's just a different type of diving. IMHO,, the key's will get you exactly the same experience you just had,, except it will cost you 50% more.
