Dear friend, I hope I am not too late... PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY ABRASIVE NOR STRONG CHEMICAL AT ALL in the D Mask! I only used a mild dish detergent and my fingers to stop the mask from fogging and I ended up stripping the UV coating on one of the lenses. I didn't use any force at all but I did rubbed each crystals perhaps 1mn too long... It's a true pity because this is the BEST mask I've ever used and especially having a full size beard. On the positive side, SCUBAPRO in Germany sent to me a pair of replacement lenses without further questions. I guess they are aware of the issue and they also have a fantastic After Sales Customer Care department (at least here). IMO, the UV coating should be placed on the outside and we simply should be slightly more careful with handling. On the negative side, there's nothing one can do to stop this mask from fogging but leaving some mm of water inside and rinse it often with circular motions while looking down... meaning eye irritation is unavoidable. Perhaps rubbing less time with the detergent could have solved the issue with time... don't know. Closing, I started using prescription 'reading' glasses so I ordered the clear versions from Scubapro that obviously fit the D Mask. These don't come with any UV coating so the problem is solved. The bad thing is they only come in +1, +2 and +3 increments. I need +1.5 so I've got +1 hopping that the additional +.5 will be covered by the +25% water magnification. Mind that extra magnification if you plan to order them :)

Tried to respond on my phone and it didn't work, so here is the edit.

I have not (as of yet) taken off the UV coating (it sounds like it IS on the inside as well as outside based on what you are saying). I have just used dawn and my fingers / soaking several times... hard to tell if it will work ok.

Its so hard to resist not using toothpaste lol... I hate taking this on a big trip not knowing how it will work. (I had planned on a pool session but it didn't work out). Hopefully the dawn light rubbing + dive boat soapy spray will be enough...

Good luck man, that's all I can say. Be VERY careful with the rubbing and the amount of times you do it. It only took some seconds more and it was gone... only fingers and soaking on super mild dish soap as I mentioned.

How did they work out for you? Can you read the computer/gauge easily without straining to see the numbers?

It won't work just another old man, you also need to build one of these, or just do dives you know so
the blurry computer is of not so much consequence, anyway the spg also makes for a good computer

But I'm going to go this way

I also bought the d mask recently. In January of this year. Purchased because I purchased the scubapro hud dive computer. I relentlessly researched how to clean the mask, and couldn’t find much info about real users experiences with it. I was worried about it fogging especially because I need to be able to see the little hud screen. My prep work on mask included scrubbing with dawn/water and my finger many, many times on the inside of lens. I also let dawn sit on the inside of mask for around 24hrs and it would dry and I would add water, repeat. I have now used the d mask on 2 dive vacations totaling somewhere around 25-30 dives. I didn’t use defogger as I prefer spit. Has not fogged up once. I have used the toothpaste method before on other masks. One of my masks requires defogger, spit doesn’t work adequately. I also purchased an atomic aquatics arc venom mask (or something like that, fancy $250 mask) a couple years ago. It had a similar uv coating on the lens. The store owner burned the silicone off using a lighter. He also burned off the uv coating almost completely off the mask. So I do know what it looks like when portions of uv type coatings are removed. (Returned that mask after 1 dive vacation). So I am 99% positive I didn’t damage my d mask by scrubbing until I couldn’t scrub anymore for multiple days and then scrub once more after I thought it was good. I don’t think masks should require anything more than just spit before dive. D mask with the tru-fit skirt is absolutely amazing and the most comfortable silicone I have used. Hope my experience helps.

Thanks! Letting it sit and dry is a good tip... No time left to try it though, I pack up today... Will post back my results. I soaked and scrubbed with my finger a lot. Really hoping the fit works as well in the water as it does above with my facial hair. :)

How do you like it? Do you use it with a camera?

I have studied all the specs and features and it appears to be an awesome computer except that it doesn't do sidemount but does everything else.

Please do report back. I have one brand new sitting in its box. I haven't done anything with it waiting for the sea conditions to get better and start diving.

I bought a demo model or else I probably would have bought a shearwater. I do like it though, this is what I like about it: Being able to see the compass at all times is nice on night shore dives, Or the next time I go to Bonaire not having to hold up my wrist to use a wrist mounted compass. I like being able to see my no deco time at all times while diving below 130’-165’ (21% o2)while hunting lion fish with a pole spear. (Sometimes I get focused on getting one of them and it’s a lot easier to slightly look up than have to move my arm up to look at wrist mount) I like to see my depth at all times while hunting if I’m diving nitrox 32 so I can stay above 131’. So for me those are what makes it useful… BUT, those benefits are only situational. I only use a GoPro that I mount to my wrist with what I guess u would call a soft Goodman style handle. I don’t know anything about side mount or stage bottles but I’m sure that u can enter in the info about each bottle/ air mixture (8 mixes max) and you can select a different type from your pre entered/predive list while underwater. As long as you have multiple transmitters (I think it can read 5 at once?) it should be AI for different mixes. I don’t like everyone and their brother asking what is on my mask and I don’t like having to keep an eye on my mask so no one steps on it or being extra careful with it. I haven’t tried out the gps function on it but I know it can save gps locations, and I’m sure there’s other features I haven’t explored. The benefits I’ve experienced have only been useful maybe 20% of the time for the type of diving I do.

But I'm going to go this way

You made my day man... :)
That's hilarious (in the good sense).

I've already installed the official bifocals, all good. I usually carry a small rig with an action cam or similar, don't want to use additional dongles BUT nevertheless, worthy solution for folks that prefer that route.
