Nice, thanks. I actually tried it the first way when I got the spool, but figured it looked too bulky and untidy to be “right”. I’ll give it another shot next time I’m in the ocean. I don’t think the way I’m doing it can slip easily (just took and jerked around and couldn’t get it to come off), but trying it the “proper” way certainly can’t hurt.DIR- GUE - Spool to SMB attachment
Surprising to some, but GUE's "principles" do leave some things open to flexibility. Some divers prefer to keep the spool and SMB pre-attached. Other divers prefer to leave them separated for various reasons. One reason I think I recall an instructor mentioning was flexibility; maybe when...scubaboard.com
