I have a Suunto Eon Steel and I got it because I could finally read the numbers on the computer clearly and they were in color. Since that time, now I have discovered other computers that do the same. The big reason why I would not buy it at this point in time is that it locked out on me during my last dive of my last dive trip. this means is that as far as you are concerned, the computer is broken and will not give you any readings at all other than to say that it is locked. It was locked for 48 hours and it was only after the lockout ended that is started to do the countdown for me to get on the airplane. It turned out that by the time the Suunto said that I could get on the airplane, I had already flown from the island to MIA, stayed overnight in MIA, got on the plane to LAX, took a cab home and had already been home for a while before it told me I could get on the airplane. I would definitely NOT buy this again, but I already have a bunch of money sunk into it.
Sorry for your troubles.

This confirms the Eon Steel has the same ridiculous lockout nonsense as earlier computers.

The 48 hours is their backside covering exercise in looking at the utterly worst case scenario -- virtually a saturation dive. For that they impose the ridiculous lockout and brick the device rendering it effectively useless.

That’s just nuts. Do you know why it locked you out in the first place?

We were in about 25-30 of water and I had put too much air in my BCD and I bounced up to the surface. I came back down and thought everything was fine. My wife went straight to the surface (for a different reason) and I followed her because I wanted to make sure she was OK and did not do a safety stop and probably ascended too fast because I was worried about her. Suunto locked me out for 48 hours as I described. I was fine because I had not been down very long and was only in 25-30 feet to the bottom anyway. I guess going straight to the surface twice in a short time period did it. It was the first (and so far only) time I have been locked out in about 75 dives on this Suunto.

It sounds like it penalized you for a “bounce dive”.

I confirm that from first hand knowledge. Will be out towards end of summer, most likely end of this year. It is supposed to be a "real" competitor to the other big rec./tec brand.
I hope they keep GTR available in Buhlmann and GF, unlike what they did on the HUD

I think the Suunto computers only lock you out for missing a deco stop by more than 3 minutes. Pretty easy to avoid in my opinion.
That doesn't appear to be the case here. Nothing about his description of the dive implied that he had incurred any type of deco obligation. If the computer thought he was in danger of excessive bubbling because of his dive profile, it certainly wouldn't take 48 hours for them to clear. Any why add on another 24 hour no-fly penalty on top of it?

I don't know the particulars of your incident but all other dive computers I know of, lock you out if the battery is running low at a certain level.
My Perdix has never locked me out. A number of times the battery indicator was on red (after starting the dive on green) while I was on my safety stop. One time the battery died completely within minutes of getting out of the water. I changed the battery and was not locked out!

The HUD doesn't display air time remaining???
In Buhlman ZH-L16 ADT MB it does, but not in Buhlmann with GF. I found it very odd, maybe a disincentive to use the latter. No entry of RBT tank pressure in Buhlamann with GF. Maybe the G3 will be better. Details, details, details...
