Sorry for the delayed answer I was busy on the weekend. It was a wall safe. They managed to rip it out of the wall and open it from above and then discarded it in a lake.

Safes are pretty common below bridges. I have seen a few looking over the edge. Frequently Stolen, no resale value once they are cut open, too large to throw in a dumpster and after sitting in the water for a while, worthless as evidence...

planer board searching is cool must be a hell of time doing it in zero vis? not easy to dodge the rocks and crap when you can sort of see it coming...Back in my Law Enforcement Diver days: an inline 6 cylinder automotive engine. "Found" it while being towed on a planer board. We were searching, in pretty much zero vis water, for a person that drowned due to a boating accident.
