I do not think that anybody who have been depending on tourism will starve in Indonesia. Times are very hard on them indeed. They have to give up there motorbike and sometimes even stop smoking. But people do not starve here.

I have had an email from the agent through whom we have booked our RA LAB for November. RA has been designated a green zone and opened on Sunday to domestic tourists, as part of the region’s reopening plan. The government have not said whether the country will be open to international tourists one way or another. Our LAB operator is hopeful that our trip will go ahead, but it’s very much a wait and see situation as the regions start with the domestic visitors. Fingers crossed.

I have some added hope as the Prime Minister of Australia basically shouted today "...we can't live in a risk-free society!" and strongly urged the state borders within Australia to open for travel, which would be the first step in travel in the region.
Also Singapore in a few days is opening for a few countries for tourism travel. And is in talks with Indonesia for a travel corridor. These small steps are the beginning of the return to normal travel

The problem with all of these destinations (except the Maldives) is that the majority of the customers will be from the US and with the way they have handled the pandemic I really don’t want to be in close contact on a boat in a group that has Americans as the majority demographic.

I understand the concern, but I sincerely hope that Americans or any other nationalities will be able to return to normal travelling soon

I understood that the Covid situation in Mexico is disastrous. Or is it very regional?

I can’t speak for the entire country but the protocols and rules in Cozumel make me comfortable. Yes there are tourists who choose to disobey the mandatory masks but I plan to stay, eat and dive at the same place. And cross my fingers.
I worry more about the airport and plane...

And they found edible food in her houseYuli 'Nur Amelia, a 43-year old woman in the city of Serang in Banten, reportedly died of psychological pressure and hunger on Monday after reportedly not eating for two days because of the economic hardship her family is suffering".
It is very hard for the poorest. But I do not believe that people starve here. Unless they are left behind by their complete family and social network. Usually this happens to people with a mental illness. Same situatiom as in many countries.

Despite Singapore’s invitation, both New Zealand and Brunei are not allowing foreign visitors to enter.

The New Zealand border is currently closed to almost all travellers wanting to enter the country by either air or sea. In Brunei, travel restrictions remain too, and the country has no plans to reopen its borders that has remained closed since mid-March to curb the spread of Covid-19. Residents of both countries are only allowed to leave for essential travel. Additonally, Singapore residents cannot travel to either country."
